Re: Pics of the coupe box!

Any mid line 10" sub that requires around .75cuft. will work. I just have gotten free JL stuff in the past so that is what I use. Alpine, Rockford, and Kicker work very well too. My favorite is the JL 10W3. Very musical, great power handling, and inexpensive. The W0 is probably the best bang for the buck. As far as amps go, just stick with a true RMS power rating around 250watts and you will be pleased. I plan on running a JL 300/4 on my system. Little low on power for the sub but I do not need a lot of bass to make me happy, quality over quantity.

Ah, Man, I thought it was gonna lie down on the trunk floor (on the left - next to the spare). Oh well. I'll have to reconsider.

Re: Pics of the coupe box!

I thought of that location but many guys have the bose system and that is where the Bose amp is. I did not want an enclosure that went over that amp and completely closed off all air to the amp causing it to fry itself. Plus a box in that location must work twice as hard so you can even here it. Not only must the pressureized air travel through the rear deck but now you are asking it to play through two layers of heavy matted carpet pads on the trunk floor. You are also not taking in account the amount of extra work the amp has to do to move the speaker. This is not the best location for pure output, sound reproduction, and efficiency.

I'm very interested. But my question....will you make another enclosure for the passenger side?

Will this have terminals from the back? I would like to take the sub out if I need more trunk space.

4080,
I'm up for a friendly challenge; your design against mine. Let's see if your theory holds true.

On a serious note, good luck with your enclosure.

Re: Pics of the coupe box!

blksnake, your box in theory may lose more of the upper bass notes then a box that isn't covered up.

Re: Pics of the coupe box!

the passenger side has lots of less space because thats where you add the fuel to the car... damn, that sounded real stupid! but yeah, the fuel tank pipe thingy is there, so not enough space... i guess

Re: Pics of the coupe box!

Quick disconnects will be nice. This is a smart design but each has its disadvantages. One is the golf club thing. The other is getting to the parts underneath the deck (spare tire, bose amp, XM, etc.).

In those rare times that I need to get under the trunk floor deck, or maximize space, it would be nice for a less than 2 minute removal of the box. What are the plans for this? Quick disconnects? I like the velcro attachment design, that's a good start.

Re: Pics of the coupe box!

4080, could you maybe show us a pic of the box in the trunk with a golf bag or two in there also. i just want to make sure that at least one bag can still fit in there with the box.

thanks.

Re: Pics of the coupe box!

i am definitely interested. this set up will likely be better sounding, but the one under the mats would give more space!! hard decision.

anyway, a quick connector will be a must! please keep us updated.
