Hello Everyone,
i have tried and tried to search threads to find this out, and still now I have not found it:

this is my issue/problem- I have a 03 G35 Sedan equiped with the Bose system, ETC. my original bose sub cuts out after about a min of playing, and or when i turn the volume up. i have checked the connections, which are perfectly fine. so now my question(s) are as they follow:
1. is the bose sub running of the Bose amp?
2. Reson for cut off-can it be that the sub's coil is messed up?
3. should i look into replacing it?
4. has anyone had this issue?
5.what size is the sub? (i should know this, but i dont..)

Please help me, its kind of difficult to listed to music when it cuts out...

All of the speakers are run from the bose amp. After dealing with Bose car audio in several different applications I learned that Bose audio system quality quickly erodes with use especially when played at loud volumes. It sounds pretty good off the dealer lot though which makes it attractive to car manufacturers.

 

once you begin turning up a bose system they have what's called bass rolloff. this prevents distortion in the speakers so when you reach a certain volume the audio processor will turn down the lower frequencies.
but if it's cutting out at lower volumes it may be a short in the coil, or amp.
having a coupe we don't have a true sub. just 6x9s that only played probably 150hz and below

What I am going to do is get a light tester on the rear of the Sub. then when it plays, connect the light tester to see if when the "cut out" happens, if there is still some power in the wires. this way i will determine if in deed the sub is the one that is messed up.

You need a digital multimeter, not a light tester.
