Quick install Q - '03 Sedan w/BOSE system & Pioneer F90BT

Hey guys,

I'm hoping I can get a quick answer to this question as I'm looking to try and make my install happen tomorrow (I'm going to do it).

I am installing a Pioneer F90BT head unit along with external connected HD radio and XM radio tuners. I have done a lot of investigation and homework as far as wiring etc. - but in looking over the harnesses and wiring I have here, only a couple of them confuse me.

One is coming from the Pioneer head unit and is Blue/white in color and labeled "System Remote Control". The way it is described in the Installation manual is as follows:
"To system control terminal of the power amp
(max. 300 mA 12 V DC)."

MY QUESTION - will there be an appropriate wire in the harness to connect this to when I pull out the OEM head unit? There is a Blue white wire in the 70-7551 harness I purchased, but it says to connect it to the "Amplifier Turn-on". Do these connect to each other?

Also, as I understand, the "Car Speed Signal Input" wire on the Pioneer harness should connect to a Green/White wire in the G's harness correct? (VSS wire)

Any help anyone could give me on these 2 points would be much appreciated!

Cheers,
Kevin

I assume your not using the factory amp with your HU? If so then the remote wire on the radio will be unused. If your plan is to run the factories off the HU then you just match up the speakers on the HU harness. Remote wire would be used if you were gonna run a 4ch amp for the doors.

Thanks SO much for the reply naughty

Are you saying then that I would use all the rest of the wires in the 70-7551 harnes (red, yellow, orange, blue, ground, and the speaker RCA plugs) and just the blue/white and black/white would be unused?

Just hoping to not screw this up!

Thanks!
Kevin

You will need to connect the power antenna wire from the new HU to the wire harness. These cars have an antenna amplifier that needs to turn on with the radio.

Cool, Gilley - thanks!

That looks like the blue wire on the 70-7551 harness. I appreciate your guys help as the Bose system seems like it is a "special" situation from other OEM stereo configurations, and the whole amp/wiring portion of it was confusing.

It's freezing outside, but I'm going to try and start on this today!

Cheers,
Kevin

Actually, I think I was wrong. Those wires on the radio harness need to be hooked up to the speaker wires that leave the amp. Because those wires go to a door seaker where as the ones in the dash just go to the amp. So you would have to run wires back to the Bose amp.

Hmm, I can't believe I would need to need to run ANYthing all the way to the back - would I?

What would be the purpose of the 70-7551 harness then?

I guess I'll know more when I get the OEM head unit out of the dash, but I was looking to just use all the OEM speakers as they exist now - no changes to those at all (i.e., I haven't added any subwoofers or upgraded speakers)

So right now, here's what I'm planning on:

- NOT connecting the blue/white and black/white wires on the 70-7551 harness

- Connecting the VSS wire on the Pioneer F90BT harness to the green/white wire on the G35's harness (for more accurate GPS tracking)

- And NOT connecting the 8 wires from the Pioneer power harnes that are marked similar to the RCA plugs that I am using instead from the 70-7551 harness (they look like the 4 speaker connections that I am already using RCA-wise)

If anything there sounds illogical, feel free to chime in!

Cheers,
Kevin

Mr. Womo,

I just installed an F900BT in my car (03 G35 Sedan) I personally used the 70-7551 hardness since i do have the Bose system myself. It works just fine, the 4 RCAs on the hardness will be your speaker out cables (the F90BT should have 3 sets of RCAs, Front L/R, Rear L/R & Subwoofer L/R) which you will connect to the Front L/R and Rear L/R (no worries your subwoofer will still work as it part of your "rear" speakers). The blue/whie and black/white are you amp ground and power which also connect to the same color cable on the70-7551. black/white is ground (just ground it with the black cable on the hardness) and the blue/white on the 70-7551 goes to the blue/white on the radio (which is labeled AMP REMOTE CONTROL) and that's it! you're good to go.
