I'm in the process of researching installing sat radio in my sedan.

I am planning on installing the Xmicro on my trunk lid, as I have metallic tinted windows, and don't want my reception to be impacted.

My question is, would it be possible to put a coat of paint on the Xmicro that matches the cars exterior color. I was thinking about just using some of the touch up paint that came with the car's "little black box" at delivery.

I thought that I read somewhere that it could be painted, but I can't find it. Also, I am slightly concerned about using a "metallic" paint, as I think it might have the same negative affect as the metallic tint.

Metallic paint is going to be a problem, but the performance may depend on how thickly it's applied and just how much metal content is in the paint. The only way to find out is to try! I would consider airbrushing, applying the minimum thickness possible.

Another option is to place the XMicro on the front dash. It may not look the greatest, but might be a decent compromise.

I painted mine (silver), and it works fine. I used an airbrush, and about 1/3 of a touch up paint bottle, thinned 50% with lacquer thinner. It looks nice and works fine. Well, it works just as well as the huge Terk, anyway.
