Question help! iPod touch won't charge

Hey everyone. I own a 2008 G35XS (Premium without Nav). I just purchased a 32gig iPod touch and when I connect it via the iPod port I get a message on the iPod saying "charging not supported with this device". Anyone else experience this problem?

It's not a 'problem'... Apple changed the way it charges the iPods with the latest releases. My Bose sounddock does the same, as does my JBL speakers. Some work, some don't... I'm afraid it's one of those things. No idea why they changed it, but alas, I can't see them changing it.

But then you can't play your music, unless you are using the headphone jack... It's annoying that Apple changed the functionality on their users. I really wish there was a work around and a new cable we could buy...

Come on... The ipod will go for at least 24 hours with music. How many of you lkeep the ipod in the car? I don't, because I use it for email, etc. As such it gets synced with my macbook, thus plugged in, and charging.

I have a iPhone and I pretty much have to charge my phone every night to prevent it from running dry. I've always charged my phone in the car, and now I can't do it if I want to listen to music, it's a stupid design decision on Apple's part to basically nullify everything people bought to charge their phones. I honestly am surprised someone hasn't tried to bring up a class action lawsuit (not that I agree with doing that, I'm just surprised considering all the other things people want to sue for).

There is your problem... Expecting your gadget to be a phone, as well as a media player. The battery will indeed suffer.

Your logic makes no sense, since if I had a new iTouch I would be in the same situation...

Nope... You wouldn't. The 'phone' side of things uses up a HELL of a lot of battery life, as it is constantly connected to the mobile phone network.

I understand how electronics work. But the fact still remains that if my iTouch was low on battery power I would be in the same situation and I wouldn't be able to charge my iTouch.

I see what you're saying. I thought you meant the ipod had the same battery life as an ipohone. I know the charge situation is ****ty, but it's really not the end of the world.

My G is an 04 Coupe so I don't know what type of plug-in you have in your car but you may want to checkout the Scosche Passport. It is designed to allow you to charge the new iPod nano, Touch, and iPhone 3G. The link is:

http://www.scosche.com/products/productID/1667

Hope that will solve your problem.

That appears as though it would solve it. The problem I see with that though, is the phone won't fit in the center console then... heh.
