will 2 10"s fit in the trunk of a coupe?
I'm thinking about getting 2 10s for my car. I dont want to spend alot to build the enclosure, so I'm just going with a simple box, nothing fancy. I'd also like to have some space, for luggage and such. I really dont want the box sitting in the middle of the trunk. Is this possible?

i am building a custom box for 2-8"'s...
will fit perfectly in the back of the trunk and fully removable.
i want to put 8W7's in there but they might need too much air-space, i havent done the math yet. waitin until finals are over, like 4 weeks, and ill have the actual box drawn up on CAD, with exact measurements and air-space...

I 2nd that on the Boston sub. I have the 10.5 and the box is very small... fits right behind the back seat (where the amp is mounted) and takes up about 1/2 of that space horizontally. Sticks out just a little, but easily removable, and dang, IT POUNDS. Sound quality is un-freakin'-believable. Also, they can handle over 1000W and mine is only hooked up to the 200W 5th channel of an Alpine F450 amp. Even with that, the car vibrates like - well, you know - like a vibrator.

I will be putting pics of my complete install (stuff that other people might not have shown) in a few days hopefully. I'll show some explicit instructions on the rear speaker baffle creation, the Steering Wheel Interface Module (PAC SWI-X), and the final look of everything up on the dash and trunk... stay tuned......

I highly recommend going with something like 4080's fiber enclosure.
If you get a really good quality 10" woofer, you should only need one. You can add another to the other side of the trunk if you decide you really need more (I'm doing one on each side because I had two 10"s from a previous car), but you probably won't. The G is really efficient at bass reproduction. It's SO nice having virtually the entire trunk available for use! If you want trunk space, going fiberglass is the best money you'll spend.

You might also consider the Infinity Kappa Perfect 10DVQ. It will work in a .3 ft/3 sealed enclosure. I have one in my coupe with 300 watts going to it (it's in a .75 ft/3 sealed enclosure though for a little more low end) and it is very nice. Sound quality is excellent but coming from a 12w7 that I had in my sedan, there is no comparison.
If you need your kidneys punished, a single 12w7 will do it. You'll probably have to take your spare out unless you can live without any space whatsoever. If space is more of a consideration and you still need some damage done, you might consider the 10w7.
Regardless of whatever sub you choose, there is a saying that "It's all about the install." Spending a lot of money and not installing a sub correctly will make a big difference. Make sure you do your homework on types of enclosures as well as size. In addition, positioning the sub in the trunk is critical imo. Facing the sub down, up, to the side, etc., can make a huge difference.
