What wiring harness did you use? the one with RCAs or the lose wires for the speakers?
Try adjusting this way: go to your EQ, put everything flat, turn it up 3/4 of the way (or maximum level you can handle), put in your favourite 3 songs, and adjust until it sounds good to you. everyone has different preferences of sound quality.

Juan- Not sure if the higher voltage is better or not, maybe someone else can answer that?

But the only difference between the two units is the voltage and the 90BT has a two year warranty since it is Pioneer's "premeire"...

the higher voltage preout will make a big difference if you're going to be using aftermarket amp(s) other than that you get the ipod cord with the 90, and you have the extra year warranty. But they're the same deck in reality. with the preout voltage difference

you can wire it up to watch dvds, Map data is stored on a SD card from what I'm reading on the comparison, I think it does have a hdd big enough for the maps and map upgrades.

the navi is stored on internal flash memory and you could update the maps using the sd card. I did not use any of the preouts to wire it up. I didnt hack the navi yet but i will do that soon. The shop i went told me how to do and also gave me a site AVIC411.com and it says it on the how to do

the settings that come with the radio sound good on my car i didnt have to play with eq at all. make sure that he has the right Metra kit for it. Theres 2 of the one from high voltage and one for low. on the 05 -07 i know you need the low voltage

I dont know which wiring harness or rca... I had car toys install for me.
I will try the way you explained. One other question, did you put your SLA at 0 along with bass booster 0 and the other settings from the a/v off?

I don't have one. I installed a handful of them into other cars before I left that profession. generally I don't touch the SLA or the bass boost at all unless it's just missing the low end. SLA is a good way to blow speakers not running on an aftermarket amp. (attempts to make speakers play frequencies it can't reproduce so they freak out and go boom - and not a bass boom)

watch dvds on the go - yes. all video screens can be wired up to allow video all the time
HD radio... dunno, I posted a link in this thread. Searching is a handy tool. Teaches you how to do things on your own

I have actually installed the unit in the car since my last post. I will post pics as soon as i get my car back and i am also going to take pictures of the wiring harness.

jin to answer your questions.

The interface for the ipod is good. It is very responsive and i like it a lot. Also there is voice cataloging so that you can use voice commands to play a specific genre, album, song, or artist, or play list for that matter. However, the interface only works with the newer ipods. I have an ipod photo and it did not work so i had start using my 16GB iphone. I will be doing some custom work on that as well.

There is a wired bypass that you can do so that you can operate nav and watch videos while moving. This is explained very detailed in avic411.com

The unit is HD radio ready, you must buy the tuner and plug it in so that it works, but with 14GB of music, i do not need HD radio for now.

-------------------------------------

So i got my unit, installed it and notice that my sound was really low volume. After checking, it was a bad harness from pioneer. I talked to the Tech support guy and he said that there is no way to know if it is the harness or the unit. Since it is under warranty, they sent me the harness, and if it does not work, then i will have to send my unit in for repair or exchange.

The unit can be found for about 600.00 bucks at the moment, and for the features, you can not go wrong. It looks very classy. One thing though is the time it takes to load, yes it is a bit annoying but my music starts playing at around 15 seconds even from the iphone. The unit isnt fully operational until about the minute but i figure it is not a big deal. When i start the car i wont start driving until at least 20 seconds and i usually like it quiet so i can listen to my exhaust growl. as i am pulling out of the ally.

Just to let you all know if you still have the F90BT or F900BT and you have a slow boot up, and takes for ever to get you blue tooth going, visit the pioneer web site and order the 2.0 firmware. It speeds the entire system up. I have the F90 in my wife's Xterra, was slow as crap going up hill in the winter, ordered the 2.0 firmware, and like magic it is about 200-300% faster now. The blue tooth is ready to go before you can even back out of the driveway now.

I currently have a Pioneer F90BT in my G and wanted to make to small clarifications to the past couple of posts.

You definitely SHOULD upgrade your AVIC series headunits to the latest 2.0 firmware, but know that it isn't anything you need to "order". The file can be downloaded directly from the Pioneer website. Also, the bluetooth software was updated as well, so makle sure that you complete that step seperately - many people I've heard have complained that they can't get there phones to match up to the headunit.

Another small thing about the VR and the iPod. You can search for an artist, album, genre, or playlist - but NOT song. Just in case that small feature was of particular importance. There are lots of small ways to make a search easier if that's what you're after, but just asking it to play ONE particular song isn't available.

Cheers,
Kev
