It speeds the entire system up. I have the F90 in my wife's Xterra, was slow as crap going up hill in the winter, ordered the 2.0 firmware, and like magic it is about 200-300% faster now. The blue tooth is ready to go before you can even back out of the driveway now.
I have the 2.0 firmware for my F900BT and ti's still slow as hell and take forever to load up.... I think my little Garmin 760 gps was at least 10x faster for the maps to load up... as for the music and everything else it's somewhat ok... i thinkt he kenwood supposed to be quicker? but i like the interface of the pioneer more...

as for Jin22gt, the bluetooth on this unit sounds decent to me. definitely better than the little garmin 760 i had... just because it has an external mic located next to the sun visor and the sound goes through all the speakers... i can hear the other person on the phone fine and they can hear me great too.

I want to get DD HU that has navi, bluetooth, dvd, hdd.
also i dont want the HU to take so long to load up, but that has good bluetooth connection, good navi., and fast ipod connection.
What do you guys recommend? Money is not issue for me.
im looking at either avic z3, kenwood(the 7" screen one), or this f900bt.
Are there any other systems i should consider?

thanks guys

Good luck on your search jig. Try going to different stores and see theyre displays. It may not be the exact model you want but it will get you an idea. If you did not care for the boot time, i will say go with the F series but, you do not want also many things on your HU. Either way good luck.
And load times for me, with the iphone connected, bluetooth and nav
15 seconds to sound and about 45 to 60 secs for fully operational.
For all the features, waiting a minute is not an issue for me, specially since i can listen to music only 15 seconds after my start up.

If you updated your F900BT to 2.0, and are having very slow times, recheck the update. Maybe something didnt come out right.

Question regarding the voltage, F90BT vd F900BT..

What would work best in the 05 G35x w Bose?
I would prefer to get the F90BT but I will get the F900BT if the voltage is better for my system since I will not be upgrading the component speakers.
However I will be putting a sub and amp in the trunk.

Anyone have any info for me?

Chanman if I were you I would bring it back to the shop that I bought it from because there is some thing wrong with your deck. You should check on the deck to see if you have the 2.0 software installed, not the box. People do make mistakes. Since I have in my wifes SUV the F90BT that had the 1.0 firmware installed, I know what it is like waiting and then hell freezing over before the unit would even boot up. I contacted Pioneer and got the 2.0 firmware installed it, and bang, before I even get out of the driveway with her truck it is ready to go. Also, I downloaded the 2.0 firmware, and changed a setting. I am going to make additional changes to the firmware before I install it on mine.

The 2.0 Update sped up the deck quite a bit but it is by no means fast. We have put them in alot of cars and if you have a backup camera and want to take off quickly you are hosed on using it. I like the Voice Control over Ipod and Bluetooth on the deck, but I wish that it had Voice Control over the Navigation and tuner functions. The F90 is a sweet deck with some features not on anything out yet. The 2.0 update made the bluetooth work 100x better jin22gt. Alot less echo better voice control etc.

Don't get me wrong... it's not so slow where it freezes and crashes... but it's just slow... i didnt know wit was this slow... never looked into the start up time when i bought it... I just loved the interface, the features, and price was decent for me.... i liked alpine too but i hate how it's so out of date.. especially wiht flip outs.. never was a fan of that .

also... as for the music like someone else mentioned, i get music after 10/15 seconds of start up, just the fully operation etc is what i have the problem with... waiting a minute just so i can enter the address in the destination is too long! i can probably find the directions on my iphone quicker....

if your 2.0 is quicker than a minute for full operations then i guess i have a problem if not then i guess it's just plain slow and i have to wait for 3.0

i installed one last night (still finishing things up) but it seems to sound great. the startup time isint bad, and if ive got a CD in, it takes like 15 seconds for it to kick in.

mjion- my car is a 2005x. i cant really comment on how well it will work with stock, i actually have a sneaking suspision it might be somewhat low.

(because i dont have a sub yet, i used the stock one on the stock amp. i just ran the sub signal into the 2 rear wires of the bose amp. the sub plays, not very loud though.

I don't have this unit, but I've read at avic411 that the backup camera is one of the first things to activate. With the latest firmware, it takes about 10 seconds max if I remember right.

So I recently did a lot of research on this unit along with the f90bt and the dnx8120. My conclusion is that the f90bt is worth the extra money over the f900bt because 4V preouts are great and because you can get one for 577 shipped on amazon from 6ave so it has a 2 year warranty. The f900bt has 2.2V preouts and 1 year warranty. I think that alone justifies the price. The f series screens are great and I just installed a f700bt in a friend's car and I thought the interface was great. The screen resolution was the best I have seen so far for a double din. As far as the the kenwood dnx8120 it is the best unit on the market in my opinion. Although the screen resolution is weak the features on it are awesome. It has 5V preouts and its great for tweaking your system. It also it a lot faster than the f-series even with the 2.0 update. Another awesome feature is it has 2 relay outputs which can be used for all sorts of things. I just saw a video of a guy who wired up to an exhaust valve on his corvette which was pretty cool. Overall I went with the kenwood because I found a refurb unit for 750 shipped on ebay with a good seller. The pioneer is very pretty but I felt there were too many little things that would bother me over time. I hope this sort of helps people make a decision between the 3 since its a common question. I would still recommend the f90bt though especially at 577 shipped.

For this install, do we need a dd bracket? I have read somewhere that 05-06 g35x could use the oem bracket. is this true?

also am i suppose to use PAC SWI-X or PAC SWI-PS?

thanks

either one of those steering wheel controls will work. The PS is for pioneer and sony decks (PROVIDED THAT DECK IS LISTED ON THE APPROVED DECKS LISTED)
The bracket (rear assembly that the deck gets screwed to) is reusable, the faceplate or "finisher" needs to be replaced.
