Aftermarket Amp Mount Options

Well I'm finally getting around to planning a new system for by 08 G Sedan. I'll be replacing the Bose amp (but keeping the HU) with two new amps yet to be determined. I'm liking the JL amps. I'd like to keep the installation as transparent as possible.

Has anyone mounted amps to the underside of the rear shelf? It seems that using the location of the stock amp would be a good spot to keep it out of the way to maximize trunk space. I was also thinking of mounting the sub amp where the Bose sub in now located in the rear shelf. It would be a PITA to get to them once installed.

Any word yet on a 4080 box for the 07+ sedans?

TIA

I've learned alot from trolling these boards. You guys know a $hitload.

Using the spare tire cut out is an option. I'm not sure I'd want to give up the spare.

Since there are no single sub enclosures for the 07+ sedans yet I may just fab an enclosure that spans the width of the back seats. I could offset the sub and use the remainder of the space to mount the amps. Since the rear seats don't fold down and I don't really see any use for the pass-through, I don't think it'll matter much.

I'm also trying to figure out a good place to mount my sub amp somewhere under the trunk flooring (spare tire captivity area).

unfortunately i cant mount it on top of the bose amp because my bluetooth and some other metal box is on it already (RAS?)

how about a false floor? take a piece of 1/4" mdf, make a cut out of where the tire is, route the wires according to where you wanna place the amp ontop of your tire, leave enough slack to allow the amp plate to be moved so you can get to the donut.
that's an option. or you can put it on the back of the seat.
once again, piece of 1/4" mdf put it in behind where you're placing the amp and screw in. nice thing about the cloth that's on the back of the seats is that if you wanna take it down the screw holes are hardly visible

You can relocated those units and still get a decent amount of room on top of the bose amp. I mounted a Alpine sub amp on top of my bose amp in that location after relocating the bluetooth to the side next to the bose amp

i didnt think about that... did you have to extend the wires at all? and did you do it permanently?

as for the false floor im still trying to picture how that works in my head lol

oh ok i got it, so it would be on top of the spare tire. duh

i m liking the idea to put under the driver side plastic floor piece since there is so much spare room under it

^^^
do you see a lot of salt or water in Scottsdale (I know it's typically dry there but I dunno about salt)
if you don't let a lot of dirt and sand in your car or clean it regularly I don't see why it couldn't go under the drivers seat. up in Canada we DEFINITELY DO NOT put amps under the driver seat unless the customer REEEEEEEEEEEAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLY wants it there. but our climate fluctuates much more than yours.

its dry here, extra dry. salt problem, i dont even know what you mean? lol

if its something to do with rust, cars dont do that around here either; dust is the only real "problem" if you want to call it that.

i didnt mean under the driver seat though, i was referring to redlude97 idea of putting the amp on top of the bose amp bracket in the trunk to the left of the spare tire (under that plastic shroud )

hows ur winter going? it was 74 and sunny today in phoenix, burrrr middle of winter. i bet you have some good skiing though

hahah you're a ***** (jk) it's ****ing FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZING right now!!!
-15ish CELSIUS PLUS wind chill
I don't understand the fahrenheit system... water boils at 100 Celsius, freezes at 0. makes soooo much more sense to me.

if the amp you buy will fit on top of the bose amp do it up. personally I just took my spare tire out. (since I've plus sized my tires my donut would be useless anyways).
