Kick panels

Has anyone installed kick panels in their G? If so, did you do the work yourself? Was it worthwhile?

I'm considering it for my setup.

Thanks!

Re: Kick panels

I think g35audioman did that, but i think he only put an tweeter in there, i consider that option, but it will take away my foot rest and my left foot will be on that speaker grills, so i dont think its good idea for me.

check out this site for fiberglassing the kicks...http://web.njit.edu/~cas1383/proj/kickpanels/index.htm...its very helpfull.

Re: Kick panels

I have considered Kick Panel too ... but I know my foot will kick or step on it for sure....

With the ECU on the passange kickpanel... the panel will be huge or have to relocate the ECU???

Re: Kick panels

Kicks on the passenger side would be possible, but what about the fuse box located on the driver's side? You would have to relocate that if you wanted a midrange/midbass and tweeter combo.

Re: Kick panels

Thanks for the links guys!

I'm considering a tweeter and 4" (?) midrange in the kick panel and a 6.5" midbass in the doors.

If the kick is small enough I shouldn't have to relocate anything.

The idea of the tweeter and midrange near my feet makes me cringe, but people I trust tell me it really works.

Re: Kick panels

Kick panels are a good idea in theory. In practice they're kind of a pain.
I had a 4" and tweet in kick panels in a car and wouldn't do it again.
I guess the decision may depend on how many people will be getting in and out of the passenger seat.

Re: Kick panels

I may be doing a kick install soon. I am installing 5.25" Kef coax. The most difficult part is relocating the fuse box. I have done it on the last three cars I have owned, not to mention all of the customers cars too. I want to make it as stock as possible. I will do some tests with some self enclosed speakers to see if it is even worth it. Just by looking at the location of the console, kicks, and seats it may not be worth it. I will try my a$$ off.

Re: Kick panels

Due to the work of relocating the fuse box, ecu, and all the wires and molexes associated with them, I doubt that this would be something we could sell. I do not want guys extending wires to their ECU and blaming me for the car braking when it should be going.
