Question on Double Din Unit

Before you start saying to Search, YES I HAVE

I use the search button a lot. Anyways. Here is my thing.

I am debating on the Metra Kit and the JDM kit.

So far the Metra Kit is winning.
-No Gap

JDM kit leaves a gap of what it seems to be close to 1/4 of an inch.

Not too long ago i saw a thread that someone had a fix for the gap. I have been looking for that thread the past couple of days with no luck.

Also since most seem to get the JDM kit, i can not find many pictured of the Metra kit installed.

If you know the link to the gap fix thread, can you post it?

Thank you

Honestly the gap is something I can barely even notice with my Kenwood 7120 installed. I think without the gap opening/closing/tilting my screen wouldn't be so smooth either as its pretty close.

I don't believe the 04 dash is extremely different from the 06 dash and from the metra's I've seen they just do not look up to par with the JDM kit in my opinion and I think the slight gap is much better looking than the metra.

I realize this does not answer your particular question but I went through this a bit ago and after looking at the pictures of each came to the conclusion that the metra just doesn't look good at all.

I wish I went with the JDM compared to the Metra. The buttons on the Metra are rubber and look cheap in comparison to the JDM version.

Yeah i decided on the JDM and will do the Dual button mod. I found some pics on google, which linked me back to this site, anyways. And yes the Metra looks nice, but i did not like the Grey rubber buttons. I will get the JDM, I also found the thread for the gap fix. It was one of the ones i had looked at, but i just didnt read the picture captures. For some reason i thought i had seen a detail DIY on fixing the gap and thats what i was looking for but i guess i was dreaming. Well all set, ready to order my Unit

F90BT
JDM DD
70-7551 cables (since the unit is a 4V pre-amp)
Antenna Adapter
Steering Wheel Controls Adapter

Will i need anything else? I know that the unit comes with the iPod cable and the GPS antenna. Any sugestions?

FYI- JDM does make a unit with the Dual button.. Call Riverside Infiniti, I believe they are the only ones who can obtain this.

Riverside does not have the Dual button, but it is not a big deal, i will modify the unit to make it work. I am good with electronics, hell is part of my career.

So now that i was ready to start ordering parts, i can not find a black JDM kit.

has anyone painted a willow or tan finisher to make it black? I imagine a few coats of flat black krylon paint should work fine
