Re: FINAL COUPE BOX PICS!

Interested, but would like to see the cargo net solution first as I like to put small things in there to keep them from moving around the trunk.

Re: FINAL COUPE BOX PICS!

Hey 4080

Looks awesome man!

I bet you can still use the cargo net..... Just 3-quarters of it.

1) remove your sub-box
2) connect the cargo net to the 2 clips
3) place your sub-box into place, while holding the cargo net back and away from the box.

Let us know if this works out

Thanks!

Re: FINAL COUPE BOX PICS!

Did some more research with the cargo net. I want to be able to use the factory loops, not add any to the face of the box. To do this we are going to add small dips in the back of the box so that the hook on the net will hook into the loop and not make the box stick out. Best part is that it will not cost you anything. So ignore that last post from me about charging. I will keep you posted.

Re: FINAL COUPE BOX PICS!

4080 mentioned in an earlier post that there is less space on the passenger side and the box would have to stick out more (not look very stealth).

However, I was thinking that might be the perfect place to mount some amps. Would it be possible to build another structure for the passenger side that would be suitible for mounting 2 amps? I would much rather mount amps there instead of the seat pass-through. That might look pretty cool having the sub on one side and the amps on the other.

Re: FINAL COUPE BOX PICS!

I just bought the original prototype for the G35 coupe from 4080 and I couldn't be happier! I live in Houston and have been wanting to put a sub in my car since I bought it. The problem though was that everyone wanted way too much ($500-$700)to build any kind of simple custom box (and they wanted to keep my car for 3 days). Anyway, I just wanted to give a little feedback. The fit, finish and output as well as sound quality of the enclosure far exceeded my expectations. Now if I only had the mids and highs to match. Thanks 4080!

Re: FINAL COUPE BOX PICS!

What is considered the ideal sub for this box? I have no brand preference and would like to know which subs I should consider.

Re: FINAL COUPE BOX PICS!

ANY 10" SUB THAT WILL WORK IN .5-.9 CUFT. RANGE. I AM USING A ROCKFORD PUNCH. JL W0, W3, AND W6 WORK GREAT TOO. JUST STICK WITH A REP. MANUFACTURE.

Re: FINAL COUPE BOX PICS!

To compete more with JL Audio, you might want to consider selling a complete package (i.e. sub already installed) for us less car audio savy. That way we are getting a total solution that has the sub you have verified that sound great with the enclosure. That is assuming you can get low enough pricing on subs to be competitive.

Re: FINAL COUPE BOX PICS!

I would order one right now, but I have near zero audio experience, how difficult would it be for me to DIY this sub? (I know how to tap and crimp wires, that's about it)

Re: FINAL COUPE BOX PICS!

Cut a speaker wire to length. Strip it on either end and hook one end to your sub (using speaker terminals) and the other to the thumb screw terminal in the box (so thats two crimps). Screw your sub in with 8 screws. Connect your speaker wire from your amp to the back of the box using the thumb screw terminals(supplied). Pull up the rubber gasket around the trunk above where the box is going to reside (about 7" of it). Push the box in place and push the rubber gasket back in place over the aluminum bracket that is attached to the box and your done. The gasket hides the aluminum support bracket. This should take a total of 15 minutes. If you need to pull the box out this should take less than 10 seconds.
