Around that price range I've heard good things about Exile and Hertz
I'm still toying with the idea of the DLS, auditioned a ton of speakers the other day. Spent real time with them, JL XR/ZR, Alpine, Boston, Pioneer PRS, Kenwood eXcelon, Focals.
I liked the Focal 165 KF a lot for some reason. People say they're hard to tame in the car though.

Hearing a setup in a showroom and inside of a vehicle will have two different sounds. The acoustics of a car can make a setup sound great or terrible. All the speakers you listed above are all pretty good never heard the eXcelon. The Hertz milli set is pretty good and affordable.

I jumped for joy when I heard my DLS setup!
UP6's in kickpods and UP6i's in the doors! FANTASTIC!!! And they can handle the power! With the right amp setup, the clarity doesn't end!
Well, I guess at some point, but I haven't reached it cause my ears start to hurt (and people call me deaf).
