problems with 03 clock

I have a 03 coupe. When I bought it both lights were out in the clock. Keeps time fine though.

A friend of mine works at a dealership and got me the OEM bulbs cheap.

I put them in and it worked fine for 5 days or so (although dimmer then I thought it would be) and now pitch black again.

Is this common?

yes the clock lights up, if you installed new bulbs you should also install a new fuse just to be safe.

can it be a fuse even though everything else works except the clock lights? I replaced my bulbs and less than a month later both stopped working... im too cheap to keep replacing it so at night i can't see what time it is.

The lights are always dimmer than the dash lights however I'm not aware of a common problem with them going out.

I doubt the clock light has a separate fuse. Is it possible to trace the wire back to the fuse panel/harness to make sure it is good?

the bulbs suck, they always go out easily. your lucky you're friend got em for you for cheap, cause they tried to charge me $20 for each, and I needed 2. So $40 for my clock to light up for a few months and blow again? I said f-that and retrofitted some LED's. Easy if you know basic wiring.
