If I have a Profile California 1000w amp, that puts out 300w RMS at 4ohm and 500w RMS at 2ohm, which ohm subwoofer should I buy? Currently I have a 10" Infinity Reference (4ohm) and am looking to upgrade. I post in this thread specifically because I was considering the W3.

Right, but what ohm rating? I think they come in 2, 4, and 8... Not sure which would work the best. Right now I have the gain turned almost all the way up, same with the bass boost. Amp barely gets hot though, only if it's been slamming for a couple hours.

What you mean by 2, 4, and 8?

And you may be damaging your equipment. You may be clipping the amp.

Depends on the amount of power.

My current set up is 2 8w3v3s in a ported box powered by a 500/1 and its more than I need and doesnt consume much space about the same as the Zencloure boxes!

Swap for the older 8w6's! Haha. I'd like to find a good deal on oldschool 8w6's but they sell for around 100-150 each still. Would love to a quad 8" setup.

2ohms, 4ohms, and 8ohms. The w3's can be purchased with any of them, with the amp I posted above, what ohm rating should I use with a w3?

depends on your goal of output vs sound quality, and power/capabilities of your amp(s)

If going with 2 subs and if they are single voice coil then i'd go with 2 2 ohms or 2 8 ohms, won't make a difference since they will both wire to 4 ohms. If going with 1 sub, then single 4 ohm.

If you go to google and type rockford wiring wizard and click the link for it, you can choose up to 4 subs and different wiring configurations to determine what you can wire the subs to.

the w6's would rape the w3, both older and newer, hands down, without a problem.
