Double Din Illumination

So I recently installed a Pioneer Avic Z2 in my G and everything works great. The only problem I'm experiencing is that the avic is not recognizing the illumination change when I turn on my lights. The screen is still bright as can be at night. I connected the correct illumination wire on the harness (solid orange). There was one left over orange/black wire that was labeled "dimmer ground", but no wires left to connect it to on the avic harness. Am I missing something here? How can I get the illumination switch to work?

Thanks in advance

did you connect the orange white (7550/7551) to the "dimmer" wire on the deck?

also there may be an option on the deck itself that enables or disables that feature

today i was going over the wires on my metra 7551 harness and studying how they connected to the stock harness. the orange ilum. wire on your aftermarket HU connects to the orange ilum wire on the metra harness. the problem i see is that when you connect the metra harness to the stock harness, the stock harness doesn't have a wire in the hole which will be connected to the metra harness. how will the HU be illuminated when you turn on you lights at night???

sometimes there's 2 wires an illumination and a dimmer wire. basically they work the same only the polarity is different. connect the orange to the orange white on the pioneer.
that should sort your issue.
I'm going off memory so I could be wrong, but if all else fails and you really wanna do it. I'll take you the advanced route.

I just installed mine and the Metra harness was correct. I have an Alpine, but that won't make any difference. Put a test light on the dimmer line and make sure you get 12v when you turn the parking lights on.

im not sure if you understand what i was saying. when you plug your metra harness into your infinity harness, the orange wire of the metra harness is connecting up with a blank hole on the infinity harness (one with no wire in it).

ive been doing some more searching and have found ppl saying that you have to look on one of the other 3 infinity radio harnesses and find the red/blue stripe wire then tap your HU's orange wire into it. here's a link

I've got the 8019 and had no issues with my illumination.
vrod's on the ball on this one... only I personally would use a multimeter - safer

the problem is the dimmer wire on the metra harness when plugged into the cars harness is meeting up with a blank hole. it isnt going to get any power. that's why you have to find the cars red/blue wire on a totally different harness and tap metra's dimmer wire into it. maybe some of our cars are different? i have an 06 coupe 5at loaded.
