Holee crap that's sweet. Were there any prices linked to it in Yen? I guess you'd have to buy all 3 components in the pics, right?

Is it just that its in Japan, or IF you could get your hands on one (and part with alot of cash) would it fit in a double din dash?

Al

Re: WOW check out this Nav unit

I can't read it but it looked like 380,000 yen or so, or about $3600. I bet you could get it to fit in the Double Din, but I doubt they have the NAV setup for the U.S.

I'll have my friend (Microsoft exec.) who lives in Tokyo check this badboy out and give me the details.

I saw this a while ago, it looks real cool, but I'd like to know how accurate it actually is.

Re: WOW check out this Nav unit

Both units look pretty neat. It is probably only a matter of time before something like this hits the US shores. The US is much bigger, so trying to map out / animate all of the major parts of the US would be quite an endeavor!

Re: WOW check out this Nav unit

Heard from back from my buddy in Tokyo, those linked units will not work in the US b/c the buttons and commands are all in Japanese and the US and Japan use entirely different and imcompatible satellite frequencies for GPS navigation.

But, the newest GPS nav in Japan does show the buildings and streets in 3D....pretty cool. The US model should show up on our shores in about 10-15 years or so just like other technological advances that come from Japan.
