Satellite Radio

I did a search, and had too many results and couldnt find my answer....

I have an 04 coupe thats prewired for satellite. If I wanted to get XM or Sirius, what would I need to purchase and install in order to be full functioning? Would I need to put a huge goofy-looking antenna on my car, or would a micro antenna in my rear deck work just fine? How much do the things I'd need cost? Where is the best place to buy all the stuff I need? Is the install simple to do myself?

Thanks a lot everyone

Re: Satellite Radio

Buy either the XM or Sirius kit from Grubbs for the best price of $300 (plus get an additional 5% discount with the FA Forum code). The kit includes the huge goofy antenna. Purchasing a micro antenna will run you about another $30 for the antenna, plus $30 for the 2-in-1 adapter.

If you don't have metallic tint, you can install the huge goofy antenna on the rear deck. Many people are content with this. With the micro antenna, you can place it exterior for best reception, or also place it on the rear deck, or even under the carpet of the rear deck (which is where I have it now!).

See This Thread for more direct info on the Xmicro for XM.

Re: Satellite Radio

It includes the satelite tuner (goes in the trunk), the big ugly antenna, wiring to go between the two, and various mounting screws, tape, etc.

Re: Satellite Radio

Might be a stupide question, actually it probably is, but does this include any trial period subscription to either service provider or do you have to set that up yourself?

Re: Satellite Radio

If you order the Infiniti XM kit, you are entitled to two free months of service and the activation fee is waived. But you have to do all the signing-up yourself. The dealer that sells you the kit should include all the information to do this.
