Calling Car Audio Specialist...
A reading of "0" or so ohms indicates an open circuit...which translates to your voice coil being broken. If the subwoofer is kind of old it could quite possibly have broken due to age and not misuse or a wrong setting. When you get the new sub, if you decide to wire it up yourself, be sure you wire it correctly and set the gains on your amp correctly. SEARCH www.diymobileaudio.com for description of that kind of stuff. Its been posted and asked a million times.

Thanks guys, yea the sub is about 5 years old now...guess it was just time for a new one. Since you guys have been this helpful thus far maybe you can reccommend a sub for me. I have a HiFonics 600Watt amp, very weak. But, I don't need a sub that hits that hard, just something that hits clean, reason I only need (1) 10'
I've heard of Jl Audio, Image Dynamics....what should I look for, also would be nice if it fit in my current box. Here's the specs of the sub I have now:
Diamond Audio TDX-10D4 Car Subwoofer
Top Mounting Depth 7.52 In.
Mounting Diameter / Length 9.4 In.
Nominal Power Handling 1500 Watt RMS
Frequency Response 23 Hz - 250 Hz
Sensitivity 84 dB
Impedance 4 ohm (Dual Coil)
Thanks.

I'm a JL dealer and they make great subs, but I'm also an Alpine dealer and I'll tell you that the Type R subs from Alpine are some of the best bang for the buck out there. I'm designing a system for my car right now and will be using the Alpine Type R in it.

Okay, I'll do a little more research, but would do you recommend on the amplifier settings, I don't want to draw to much power or vice versa.

either/or...but, it's sealed to my knowledge. Has an opening on the side...sorry for being kind of vague.
that will change the box size for that sub and might change the choice of the sub to replace it with. try taking a pic of it if you can
most diamond subs are .7-.8 cuft sealed
ported 1.00 - 1.25 cuft

Very nice, I'll be ordering that Alpine Type R by the end of the week, as soon as I get over this illness and deposit my monies...Thanks, and will post pics of new sub when it comes in.
looks like it would work if the diamond sounded good in there before. however if you had a custom box made for the sub your getting it would out perform the prefab you have now. just an idea for down the road
