Looking for opinions on replacing all 6 speakers and BOSE amp

I've been reading up on this forum for the past few weeks and everyone seems to be of the opinion that you should ditch the rear 6x9s and just replace the front and rears when changing out the speakers/amp. Why exactly is that? My musical tastes are all over the board, but I listen to a lot of rock, and I can't help but think that the rear 6x9s would provide some good mid-bass. I'm hoping to get some opinions from those that have done only 4, and those that did all 6, and if you had to do it over again how you would do it differently. It also helps to know what your musical tastes are.

That being said, I'm going to be installing a DD head-unit and I'm considering swapping out the BOSE amp and all 6 speakers. Has anyone on here replaced all 6? What kind of amp are you running? Ultimately I see myself doing all 6 speakers and adding a single sub, so technically that's 7 channels - 2 fronts, 2 rear quarter panels, 2 rear decks, and sub. Head-units only come with 3 RCA outs - front, rear, and sub. So I'm wondering how I would even hook up the rear deck 6x9s.

TIA.

I dont have the "Bose" system in my car, however I can assure you that aftermarket speakers will be better quality built compared to the Bose you have. I remember, in my previous TL I owned it had Bose, and the Bose speakers were made out of thin crap paper.

I would get components in the front and 6X9s in the back. Amp? Change it, get a 4 channel amp, and you should be fine. For the DD, just research for the one you like, alot of people have chosen Kenwood (previously owned Kenwood DD user myself). IF your going to change the system out once, do it for good and all together. Saves you time, labor (planning to get it done by someone else), and just more collaborating.

The 6x9's in the Bose system are subwoofers, so replacing them with full range speakers will move the soundstage to the rear of the car which sounds terrible. Replace the front and rear speakers with quality ones and add a subwoofer and you'll be amazed at how good the car can sound.

I wouldn't run the 6x9s as full range. I want them to provide midrange. So I wouldn't get components or 2/3-ways, just 6x9s with a low pass crossover. Again I'm just shooting for a very well rounded full range system, so I'm thinking my ideal setup would be nice full range up front and the rear quarters, 6x9s for midrange in the rear deck, and then a single 10" sub.

I've already got my DD selected. I'm running a Kenwood DNX8120 in my RSX and I absolutely love it. So I'm pretty set on getting a DNX7140 for the G. I'm trying to figure this out now to decide if I want to do the entire audio system in one shot because I know firsthand how much of a pain in the *** it is to take apart the center dash. But then again if I'm going to be working on this project for a good week or so I might want to wait for the winter time when my G is garaged for the season anyways. Although I suppose I can go ahead and hook up the RCAs and coil them up somewhere so I don't have to get behind the HU again.

Adding the 6x9's even as just a midrange speaker will move the soundstage towards the rear. The 6 1/2's on the rear are more then enough for rear fill. Most of the sound should come from the front in a properly tuned system.

I listen to all kinds of music don't flame me either but everything from Justin Timberlake to Country, lol. No, I am not gay, but he does make some good music every now and then, lol.

I actually just put in my DNX8120 last week. I kept the Bose Amp and 6x9's. I did replace the stock speakers with some Infinity Kappa's about two years ago. I also have a separate mono amp powering a 12" sub. I was just to lazy to unplug the 6x9's. Also, If I go on a roadtrip or need trunk space I can just take out the sub.

I am not a audiophile or looking to enter any competitions but it sounds pretty good I think. I might add a four channel amp in the future so I will have to ditch the 6x9's anyway. I just need to find some time/motivation to do that install...I already have the parts.

I have a question if you want to power all 6 speakers on the g35 isn't a four channel amp for 4 speakers only? What would be a solution to amp all 6 speakers and power 2 12inch or 10 subs?

I replaced all of the speakers in my coupe and did 2 12 inch subs like you are asking about. I ended up using 3 amps. 1 2 channel amp for the subs only, 1 2 channel amp for the front components (replaced the stock 6.5's and tweets), used a 4 channel amp to run 2 6.5 inch mid bass in the rear and the two 6 x 9's. Needless to say it fit in there but I have no spare tire anymore. It can be done.

The general consensus on this board is to just run 4 full-range speakers and a sub. Our cars stock have front speakers (front channel), rear side panel speakers (rear channel), and rear deck 6x9s (sub). The 6x9s are acting as low frequency only speakers.

I'm putting components in the front, components in the rear deck, and adding a 10" sub. Before doing a lot of research and coming to my own conclusions, I was going to replace all 6 speakers like you stated and add a sub. Probably the best way to do that is get a decent powered 4 channel amp and run the front speakers off the front channel, and the rear side panels and rear deck speakers off the rear channel. Or get a 5/6 channel amp, do the same thing, and also use it to power the sub using the 5/6th channel.

The biggest reason I changed out my 6x9's was because I knew I would want to do it at some point and changing them is a PITA. While you are installing the rest of your system you have alot of it already apart and would save some time doing it then. I'm not saying to do it one way or the other, just if you think you might want to then go ahead and do it while the car is most of the way apart. Just my 2 cents.
