Turn It Up!

As with any digital music and plugged-in portable device, there's always the fear of the loss of sound quality; but not this time. Since the iPod and KCA-420i are connected directly to the head unit via our patented Ai-NET BUS, it will playback all of the music information encoded on your iPod. The great news is that 2004 Alpine Ai-NET head units are equipped with a proprietary technology which enhances sound quality and restores lost detail to compressed digital media. Alpine is always focused on improving sound performance so you can hear the difference.

Make Your Digital Music Sound Like CDs.

MediaXpander™ is an exlcusive Alpine technology that gives a significant boost to sound quality. It provides three selectable harmonic restoration modes for five sources: MP3/WMA, CD, DVD, FM and Satellite Radio (Sirius or XM). MediaXpander uses a 500Mhz processor to recreate the subtleties and nuances that make the music sound real. In essence, only Alpine allows you to make your digital media sound great.

Personalized Sound Control.

Sound customization is taken to the next level with Bass Engine™. We know that every vehicle and music taste is different, that's why Alpine gives you the ability to personalize your sound and your system. With Alpine's exclusive Bass Engine technology, you can customize the sound with EQs, crossovers, and more. The sound can be customized with special time correction technology, which ensures your seat is placed directly in the middle of the music to really bring life to your experience.

Expand Your System.

The KCA-420i can be added to any 2004 Alpine Ai-NET head unit. Now you have the option of enjoying your iPod in your car, and still use your other in-vehicle electronics applications such as a Multi-Channel 5.1 Dolby Digital® system, Satellite Radio (Sirius or XM), a CD Changer, or Navigation.

Re: alpine for ipod!!!!

The question is whether this be compatible with either of the stock sound systems in the g35's and will we be able to control it through the steering wheel. If it does work, I'm definetly buying this for my blue mini ipod.

Re: alpine for ipod!!!!

uhhh.....did you even read what the guy wrote?

This thing is simply an adapter that works with any late model Alpine headunit... which is why he said he has to get the double-din dash kit... basically it will emulate a cd-changer, which is what typically would be plugged into a headunit's data-port (Alpine calls theirs Ai-Net)

Re: alpine for ipod!!!!

It's a badly written sentence but I think it means the compressed digital formats like MP3 can sound almost as good as full CD quality.

Re: alpine for ipod!!!!

Well, I'm actually gettin an Ipod for free soon. What I would wonder is whether or not this thing would have a passthrough to support both Ipod + Alpine AiNET Mp3 Changer (though I wouldn't have much need for them both, but in case I would forget my ipod at home) this would make sense to get whenever I do finally decide to do the radio swap.

Re: alpine for ipod!!!!

those things usually do have pass-throughs, at least the Pioneer IP-BUS does... you can connect many sources in daisy-chain form...

??? On my phatbox, the 128 bit mp3's sound better than a store bought CD. I think the playback sound has alot to do with the particular mp3 player/software.

Re: alpine for ipod!!!!

You couldn't be further from the truth. The software that plays back the music should have little to no bearing on the sound quality. What will affect the sound quality is sampling rate and stereo mode. Anything below 128 kbit will sound like ***, as well as anything encoded with Joint Stereo mode. More than likely, if encoded with Joint Stereo, it will sound more washy than full stereo mode.
