HELP testing Alpine w505 Double Din/ Navi
Hey guys
I am picking up a used Alpine w505 double din and navigation. It is not installed and I want to make sure everything works before I buy it. I have Googled this and it says to hook up the red and white to positive battery terminal and black to the negitive terminal. Is this true? If so can I test all full functions with buy doing this or is there something else i need to do?
Also does anyone have this deck and like it or dislike it?
need help let me know.
Thanks
Daniel

I test "drove" the Alpines at the Abt where i bought my Kenwoods (i have the 6140 and the 8120) .. can't say I was a fan -- didn't like that navi cartridge dealie you have to put in there for the navi to work ... I thought the Kenwood was more intuitive, just my 2 cents.
well -- if you REALLY want to test it .. you should test all four speaker outputs -- therefore you'll need to connect more than the just the red, yellow, and black wires (ACC, constant battery, ground).
I supposed you can just provide 12 volts to the red and yellow wires and ground the black and get the unit running so you can play with the touchscreen and see if it'll switch functions etc...
