Replacement Speakers...How Deep is Too Deep?

I am about to install new front component speakers, Infinity Kappa Perfect 6.1s and before I buy them, I want to ensure they will fit in the door and not hit the glass when the windows are lowered. Do you know how deep is too deep when it comes to the mid-range speaker?

Thanks alot.

Jason

Do you have the coupe? If so, those should fit no problem, as well as just about any 6.5" speaker up front. The rear sides are another story.

I do have the coupe, but about the rear speakers, how deep is too deep with them as I am also replacing them with Infinity 693.5 coaxial speakers?

Thanks again.

You should not have a problem with the speakers in the door. Your only issue will be creating new mount areas, by drilling holes into the door. As for the rear,
I am running those exact same 693.5 speakers in the rear deck. They are too deep, but it looks like they designed the car for this. All you have to do is remove the "speaker cutouts" from the trunk finisher. They pop/snip right off. Not re-attachable.

When you say you installed them in the rear deck, do you mean in the way back behind the rear seats, as I mean I am replacing the rear speakers (non-premium audio system) meaning the ones on the side of the rear seats, not the rear 6x9 speakers that come with the premium audio system.

If we are on the same page, where is the trunk finisher exactly? Do you have any pics?

Thanks alot.

I have/had the premium bose audio system. The rear deck is the location where the rear windshield meets the rear seats. Typically where the third brake light is located if you don't have the OEM spoiler. The place where people usually put stuffed animals for the whole world to see.

I am not sure of the specs for the non-premium system. However, my gut tells me that you will not be able to fit the Infinity 6x9s in side of the rear seats.

We build 3/4 inch spacers for the front and rear 6-1/2s out of MDF then use cascade deadening around the area. Works great.

Do you hear me?
