AC/heat blower short - warranty?

I think I know the answer, but just wanted to confirm.

My car is instantly blowing both fuses for the blower. I have not touched anything electrical on the car in about 9 months, so I don't think its anything I've done. At this point, all I can assume is that a wire has worn through somewhere in the car and is shorting out. This would be a huge PITA to track down, as far as I know. Car is now about 4.5 years on the road with nearly 50k miles.

Am I correct that this would NOT be covered by warranty? My thinking is this is a manufacturer defect, but since its not directly powertrain related ... thoughts? information?

If its not covered, I'd rather try to fix myself. I just don't know where to start. Anyone know where to get my hands on wiring diagrams?

The problem would be covered under the basic 4 year/60K mile warranty, but your car has probably been on the road over 4 years, so that warranty is gone. The dealer can run the VIN and tell you when the car was originally sold.

You can get wiring diagrams in the service manual, which can be found at www.infinitihelp.com.

correct. 4.5 years on the road (originally sold January '05).
I keep mixing up the warranties on my vehicles. So this had 4yr bumper to bumper? How long is the powertrain again? Thought I had till Jan '10 with that.

Thanks for the link!

So I tried unplugging the blower, replaced the fuses, turned on the key, and found the fuses remained OK. Turned off the key, plugged the blower back in, turned on the key and *POP* went the fuses.

So it looks like the motor is shorted. Now to find a replacement.
