Re: Replacing the Bose!

When is Infiniti and other car brands (Audi, Acura, etc) going to learn and drop Bose as their 'premium' sound system. If you are buying these cars, you probably know something about audio as well and know that Bose is crap. It is sad that I have to pay extra for Bose when I don't even want it. To me, it's not considered an 'upgrade'. =(

They should put Bose systems in Geo Metro's and Kia Accents, because those are the people that aspire to one day own a Bose system, not me. Damn the Bose marketing machine brainwashing everyone.

Gonna order a 2005 DG 6MT Coupe soon!

Re: Replacing the Bose!

I've found Bose products to be, as you say, "crap" from first encountering the brand in the 70's with the incredibly over rated model 901. I think those toads may still be finding suckers to buy them. As I have stated above, the Bose thingy in my G35c is pretty pathetic as well. In fact, my prior experience with Bose was uniformly wretched. Imagine my surprise when in the midst of testing new cars in the luxury catagory, I listened to the Bose in the new Audi A8, and found it to actually be listenable - much better than the ones in the Infinity Q45 and the Mercedes S class. It was not the deal breaker I had imagined and still a bit boomy in the bass, but I bought a Lexus LS430 anyway. The Mark Levinson is much better.

Re: Replacing the Bose!

I have the "premium" Bose. Would it make sense and provide noticeable positive improvement to just install an AudioControl EQL equalizer and leave the same head unit and speakers?

Sure the Bose sound is not that great, but I much rather send $2000 on performance mods

Having it to do over again, that is the first thing I would try, then go from there.
