Q: Bose amp by-pass harness 06 coupe premium

Hi Everyone,

I have 06 coupe 6MT w/premium pkg and want to upgrade the sound system.

First I am attacking to swap out bose amp with Alpine. I searched the forum pretty thoroughly to find a by-pass harness for bose amp (blue connector) and found this Metra 70-2003 from the following thread. It looks like it's for sedan.

https://g35driver.com/forums/audio-v...6k-beware.html

But when I tried to hook it up, it didn't go in. I hoped the harnesses for sedan and coupe are same but obviously they are not.

So I am out searching for the harness again and I'd like to ask your help.

Does anybody know which harness I should buy?

Thank you in advance.

ya the 70-2003 is a GM harness, so it definitely will NOT work on a nissan/infiniti
I'd recomend - until you put an after amp and speakers in utilize the bose amp it makes a HUGE difference just by changing the head unit.
pick up Metra 70-7550 harness. you won't have any issues. it plugs into the original harness and you just have to solder the wires from the aftermarket deck to that one.
*note to turn on the Bose amp you must connect the blue wire from the 70-7550 to either the blue/white OR red wire

I am using the 70-2003 on my 06 couple. The pins match up. However, the slots in the 70-2003 do not. You will have to cut two slots on the 70-2003 to be able to plug the connector in.

sorry but as soon as you have to modify a harness to make it work it's NOT worth it

You don't modify your harness. You just need to break off the plastic part of the Metra 70-2003
The two center slots on the metra don't align with the nissan harness

Just break it off and you can plug the connector in

I guess 06g35ca meant breaking off the plastic part of the "blue connector"? I don't see any center slots on Metra 70-2003. Besides, I thought "blue connector" was a lot thicker than Metra. Maybe I was mistaken.

I wish you chimed in two days sooner. I went ahead with the installation last two days. I couldn't pick better day to do it. Almost 105 deg outside both days.

What I did was to pull out all enough pins from Metra, wrap with shrink tube, solder extension wire to amp and construct a very very crude wiring harness. I tiewrapped it to existing wiring harnesses with cable ties so that it won't come off with vibration and movement.

Anyway, everything works fine and sounds a lot better than stock bose amp. Oh I added subwoofer too with 4080 box. Here is what I added:

Alphine MRV-F450 (old. I recycled from my old car)
Sub JL AUDIO 10W3V2-D2
4080 Box

Next is to replace with front and rear speaker with DLS or MB Quart.

I will try to post some pictures later

Thank you for posting comments and help. I appreciate it.
