"Accessory not made to work with iPhone" message with car adaptor
Hi guys,
I don't actually drive an Infiniti, but I found this forum on a google search for information about iPhone car integration and thought I might be able to get some help.
I've had Peripheral Electronics' iSimple PXAMG unit installed in my car for some time now and have been pleased with the integration experience it's provided for my old fifth-generation iPod (apart from having to turn the volume up higher than I do for the car radio). I recently upgraded to the new iPhone 3GS and was assured by a Peripheral customer service rep that their 5V converter cable would make my iPhone fully compatible with the PXAMG, allowing for charging as well as audio playback.
Well, it turns out after putting down the $30 for the converter cable (this is in addition to the $200 or so I paid a while back for the PXAMG kit itself), my 3GS charges, but I now get an annoying error message every time I connect saying the accessory is not designed to work with the iPhone and asking if I want to put it in airplane mode. What makes this annoying is that I have my iPhone mounted on my dash for access to its screen and controls, so every time I get in my car and connect my iPhone, I have to press a button on the screen to dismiss this error message before I can do anything else.
Has anyone else with the PXAMG unit or other car adapter units encountered this problem, and is there any way to solve it (perhaps a PXAMG firmware update or a setting on the iPhone I'm missing)? And as a last resort, are there any good car adapters for iPhone out there that are truly compatible (no error messages)? If nothing else, I could sell all my PXAMG stuff on eBay and look for something else.
Thanks for the help!
