PLEASE HELP...Check engine light came on after installing PAC AAI-NIS2

Hi,

I installed the PAC AAI-NIS2 today and the Aux1 and Aux2 works. After I put everything back together, started the car and I had a "service engine light". Then I realized when I put the shifter back on that I didn't insert it through the plastic bracket underneath so I wasn't able to pull it down to D and it stops at N. Not sure if that has anything to do with it. Then I took out the console and fixed it. Engine light was off. Then I tighten the negative battery in thinking everything is fixed and when I started engine again the engine light came back on again. The two connectors under the shifter is connected and I am not sure what is triggering the check engine. Can someone please help. I even tighten the gas cap just for the heck of it. Everything is working, radio, ac, shifting gears.

When I installed the PAC AAI-NIS2, I had to shift it to N and when I do that I can't get the key out so I am not sure if that has anything to do with it. The Neg battery is disconnected while I setup the PAC AAI-NIS2.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did you disconnect the air bag on the passanger side while the battery was still connnected?

Where is the air bag plug?

Anyway, I took the console area off, unplug and plugged back in the two plugs (I think one is for the shift indicator and the other one is probably link to the a/t shifter. Then I wiggle the PAC-AAI-NIS2 around hoping it would do something. Then fire up the engine and the "check engine light" is GONE and all is good.

Air bag issue would give you a solid or flashing airbag light, not a check engine.

I had the same thing happen to me today but I think it's because the car was in D when I reconnected the negative battery terminal. It should go away in a matter of a few days.

For my own comfort, you havent had any problems / check engine light incidents since then ... have you?

thanks

No, it didn't come back on. After I took off the console and put it back together it was all good. I am not sure if it goes away automatically though.
