Re: Hooked up the DVD to Nav today

I like the warning on the instructions: "DO NOT WATCH WHILE DRIVING" ...lol.....
I almost bought this unit last night for my wife's Ford Expedition and some overhead monitor for like $400 bucks. Then my wife shut me down, 'cause our son watches too much TV as it is. I would still buy it for the MP3 capabilities though. How is your experience playing MP3 cds???

Re: Hooked up the DVD to Nav today

could you possibly explain what you did to install the deck under the stock bose stereo? this would be much better than putting it under the passenger seat, which was what i was gonna do this weekend.

Also, can this be done with the 5 speed AT? I'd love to put mine there too when I get it.

Re: Hooked up the DVD to Nav today

I took off the console(it just snaps off) I then took the cage for the DVD player and marked it and cut it out with a dremal. I had to relocate the hazard button. If you look in the pics you will see the button for the pocket, it now doesnt do anything. I ordered another console so I can play with this one and fiberglass it and repaint it for a much cleaner look. Ive seen the AT console and to me that looks like the ticket to this install. You could do a really clean install with it.

Re: Hooked up the DVD to Nav today

These new MODULES
Powder Coated Black Aluminum Case (No RF interference (engine noise) with a metal case.)
No Moving Parts! All Solid State. (No relays, video can't jump the air gap in the relay and cause cross modulation.)
Not a "hobby kit". (No messy wires in the inside. You don't have to worry about wires falling off.)
1 Year NO QUESTIONS ASKED WARRANTY. (If the unit should fail at anytime within 1 year, it's replaced free of charge!)

THE COMPETITION MODULES
Plastic Case (You see engine noise in the picture).
Relays (Video jumps air gap and causes cross modulation in the video)
What a mess!!! Wires all over waiting to fall off. A kit that someone put together in their basement. Not a professional product.
Warranty??? Who knows they never say....
Picture quality good at best. With all the wires all over there is a high signal loss which degrades the video.

Re: Hooked up the DVD to Nav today

but was it hard getting behind to all the wiring and installing the placement of the dvd player? i've installed amps, speakers, and stereos in my previous cars before. i'm thinking it shouldn't be much more difficult, right?

by the way, you're one lucky man....your wife is a hottie...no disrespect...just giving props : )

Re: Hooked up the DVD to Nav today

Thanks, Yeah it would be a easy install for you. The hardest part is the hazard switch.

what hazard switch all you need to remove for this install is a glove box 10 minute jib.
