issues with rear defroster after double din install

I never noticed it until last night. I tried to use my rear defroster. Pushed it, and nothing. I remember before the double din i would turn it on and an orange life would go on indicating its been turned on.. Now i do it, nothing happens.

Could it be possible the led inside my ac control burnt out?

Does AC need to be on for rear defroster to work? I tried with it on or off, same problem. switched between recirculate and outside circulation, still nothing!

thoughts?

Have you resolved this issue? Did you use a metra kit?

I'm having the same issue, but never noticed when it stopped working. I know for a fact it worked before Metra DD install, but basically, everything else works fine, just the defroster. Thought it was a bad button or led, but the led lights up with the rest of the dash buttons at initial start of teh car just like it should.

Let me know

I found out today that I can hear something clicking in the back when i press the button, but have not had the chance to test it yet since i park in the garage.

The pins in the metra harness that connect to the factory a/c control harness are easily bent and the harnesses will go together with the pins bent and not making a connection. its a pain but pull it back out pull out the harness mke sure all your pins are straight and carefully put it back together. This should work I've seen it happen on 2 different metra kits

On mine, the button lights up when you start the car (with the rest of the dash lights) and when you press the defroster button, you can hear a little click coming from the rear of the car. All other buttons (fan up/down, ac/windshield defrost, etc) are working fine.

Do the metra kit buttons still have functioning night time lights on them and visibility or do you lose that?
