Sub/amp suggestion
Sub/amp suggestion
I have the stock, non Bose, head unit. I am looking to put a sub in the rear parcel shelf where the one for the Bose is located. Any suggestions? I am not looking to spend a ton and want a little more bass, but do not go around "bumping" my stereo.
Put a fan in the rear parcel shelf so you can air condition the trunk and put in an Infiniti(y) powered sub in the trunk behind the seat.
I have the non bose HU also. I just added the a crunch p1100.2 amp for $79.99 at Fry's and picked up a used set of polk 10's with box. Sorry don't know the spec on the subs but it's surprisingly hitting pretty hard. Gets the car shaking and it was cheap.
imo, the infinity basslinks are garbage...never installed one in a customers car that i liked...with that being said it would be easy. what you could also do is find a good sub that fits in that hole (8" i think) and run it infinite baffle. that's if you wanted to use that space... I would go a whole nother route, but it's up to you.

Sorry I didn't really read your thread before I posted. LOL but yeah like matty said you can get a free air 8" sub and mount it where the bose sub would go but without an enclosure the low frequency bass will not be very accurate. Anyway, for the set you want and on a budget, you get something like:
sub - 02 Audio OM8-200 8" mid-bass sub - $70-$80
Cheap 8 gauge wiring kit - $25 (probably don't even need 8 gauge, but if you're going to go through the trouble or wiring amp might as well in case you decide to upgrade later on)
LOC - $15
crunch p500 amp - $60 bridge it to one sub and keep the gains, etc low because it's more power than you need.
