2004 Sedan 6mt - Bose Stereo Problem
2004 Sedan 6mt - Bose Stereo Problem
Hi, need some help. I have a 2004 sedan, 6mt. It has the Bose stereo. It has just recently started with a problem. When I first get in my car, the stereo is on, looks normal, but no sound what so ever comes out. No static nothing. I have messed with volume, etc. but nothing. After about 2-3 minutes, the sound turns on. Help?
Thanks, Jeff
Thanks, Jeff
update:
went to the stealership...bad experience overall...
they told me that it was the HU and that they could have it refurbed by bose for the tidy sum of $550, installed. said go for it. they pulled the HU, sent it back and today installed and the same problem exists. now they say the amp is bad too. forget that the problem appears to be teh same. they claim that bose said they replaced two bad boards in the HU, one obviously burned. the replacement amp? almost $900 installed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! shiiiittteeessssss
i have been searching the site and trying to find a better solution / alternative. i already sunk the money into the HU, so no tossign that now. how can i test the amp and what is and how do you do an aftermarket replacement?
thanks in advance.

You can accept that you sunk $550 for the lesson on a POS headunit that will die in a few years, and not do it again. I'm surprised there was so little response to your request for help, but a few searches would have shown the near-unanimous recommendation to NOT pay to fix either of the stock head units, and instead to replace them.
Spending almost $900 on the amp will leave you with:
A mediocre and fragile headunit
A terrible and fragile amp
There's two stickies with the word "bose" in them. Read them and post more specific questions if they do not answer it.
If you're not electrically inclined enough to do it yourself from the wiring diagram, your best bet is to take it to a shop, tell them your budget, and they will give you options. They're professionals, it's what they do.

Thanks, I will look for the stickies. I did search, here and lots of other sites. No luck.
I am not ready to give up on the head unit yet...too much sunk into it now. Anyone with info on how I can keep the stock HU, and add an aftermarket amp, I would appreciate it.
Thanks.

Use the aforementioned wiring diagram sticky. Match to the inputs and outputs where applicable on your amp. If that's not enough for you, you really should take it to a professional.
