I have a coupe with the bose system...the door speakers are going out and im dropping in some infinity 6020cs speakers and tweeters...I am planning on replacing the bose amp but i dont know if i should get a 4 channel amp or a 5 channel amp? what do you guys suggest? and brand in particular?
i did a search but didnt come up with the answers that i wanted.

Hey bro, im kind of in the same boat as you are but im going to change all 6 speakers. From what i read, someone told me if i wanted to do a 4 channel amp i should wire 2 of my 6.5's to 1 channel and the other 2 6.5's to another channel and wire each 6x9 to the other 2 channels and turn up the frequency a little on the channels that you power the 6.5's. but then again a lot of people said not to do it so i dont know. im thinking of getting some high end 6x9 and getting a seperate 2 channel amp to power it. Good luck with everything bro. let me know how it goes as im also trying to do a complete system changeover on my G in about a week or two, still doing some research.

depends on what you want
5 chan amp means, front speakers(left right), rear speakers(left right), and a sub
4 chan = front (left right) rear (left right)
Name brand and build of amp means more than wattage of amp
in other words get a decent name brand amp that does ~100rms vs a cheap brand that does ~150rms

yes you have 6 but the front two are powered via a single crossover
you run a single wire from the amp "left" to the left crossover
from the crossover you run a wire to the tweeter and a separate wire to the mid
a crossover basically "Y"s off from the amp

thats kinda hard to see but the furthest left is from your amp
the rest of the output go to their speakers
