G35 Coupe Line Out Converter Question
Re: G35 Coupe Line Out Converter Question
I am thinking about doing the same thing, but why not use two Line Out Converters. One for the front speakers and one for the rear and use y-connectin for the sub off the rear LOC.
Locate the LOCs near the HU, that way if you ever do a Double Din Conversion you just have to take out the LOCs and hook up the RCA cables to the new HU, and your done.
What do you guys think?

Re: G35 Coupe Line Out Converter Question
I have a 4 channel LOC. I can tell you that there's no quality difference one way or another. If you have NAV you will want to splice into the front if you want to hear her speak. If you have a four channel LOC I highly suggest using the rear as your sub and the front for your highs and mids. That allows use of the fader to control sub level, which is a must if you listen to a variety of music styles.
Re: G35 Coupe Line Out Converter Question
If you sit comfortably in the car and you need to fade the stereo either forward or backward to get optimum sound staging, you should tap the signal from which ever side you faded it to. That will give the amp full signal.
Re: G35 Coupe Line Out Converter Question
... my sub is running off a Y off the Rear RCAs....
so do you mean you ran it off both rear RCA's and combined the two together before the amp for the sub? Cause if you only run it off one, you are only getting the bass of one channel instead of both. I have an alpine mono amp that I'm wiring and I know it has settings for high and low voltage inputs so I think I can avoid buying an LOC. But how exactly do you wire that since the amp accepts RCA's. I tried using the adapter that it came with first to do speaker level inputs but it didn't work right. I now see that I should pick up the signal before the bose amp but am just confused as to how to wire it.

Re: G35 Coupe Line Out Converter Question
I finally hooked mine up a couple of weekends ago. I tapped into the rear speaker outputs going to the Bose amp. I ran those into my LOC and then the RCAs to my amp. I am running a 300W x 1 RF Punch amp (at 2 ohms) and one 12" DVC RF Punch sub in a 1.45 cubic foot sealed box. All I can say is that it hits hard and very deep. I used to run one 18" Cerwin Vega sub in a Honda CRX back in the days and it hits almost as hard as that. I was amazed!

Yeah, the G35 Coupe is acoustically about as efficient as my old Mustang Hatchback, which really surprised me. My last couple cars suffered from the dreaded trunk bass, you just couldn't get the subs to hit very hard and clean unless the trunk pass-through was open. The G35 Coupe's rear seat doesn't seem to be nearly as problematic in that respect. It's really a great car for car audio purposes.
