Has anyone cut their din to fit a double din stereo?

I was looking at my OEM stereo and wondering how hard it would be to cut out a double din with my dremel drill. Defiantely be cheaper and probably look just as well without changin the A/C controls out.

You could easily cut the plastic outer bezel with a Dremel, but the problem is that as far as I know (taking mine apart this weekend and could confirm then if you'd like) the radio and A/C controls are all part of the same circuit board. Take a look at the sticky above about why we need the JDM A/C controller, it specifically deals with the 03-04 models but I don't believe ours are any different in that regard.

Hmmm, I just took mine apart over the weekend, I know that the stereo and the Navigation a seperate from the A/C Controls themselves but they might share some connections via connectors. I didn't think about that.

Like I said, I haven't pulled mine apart yet. I'm going a slightly different route but will be pulling it out this weekend to run some wiring. I always just assumed that at some point I would need the JDM A/C controller if I ended up replacing the OEM stereo. Also I don't have nav so that may create another difference.

To answer part of the original question, yeah you could cut the bezel and I'm sure it'd look fine if you have a steady hand, it's only plastic. But take a close look at the A/C set up before you do.

Guess I'm not helpful today, sorry bout that.

Another reason I asked is because my dash is stainless and not just silver painted pastic. I haven't seen a DD adapter in the Stainless covering to match my interior.

Guess i will have to look closer at the circuit board next time. Mine is a 05' so I don't know if it's any different or not.
