Navigation unit run off Hard Drive?

Navigation unit run off Hard Drive?
Does anyone know if it's possible to save the Navigation DVD onto a hard drive and run the system off that? I was toying with the idea of removing the DVD unit out of the dash and replacing with a PS2 in it's location, but would like to be able to switch to use the factory nav. Anyone have any suggestions on this one? Is this even possible?
