aftermarket amp.- speaker question

I was told by a sales/tech. person at Circuit City that if I wanted to upgrade the Bose speakers I had to also upgrade the amp. because of the impedance difference, 2ohm factory vs. 4ohm aftermarket speaker. Any suggestions under $800.00.

Re: aftermarket amp.- speaker question

$800 for how much? Just the amp, or the amp+speakers.

I bought infinity 6 channel amp for ~$250, infinity kappa perfect 6.1's for ~$220, some infinity 6002si's for $80, and a polk subwoofer for ~$80.

Made the fiberglass enclosure myself, but I had to make two cause I F'ed up the first one... cost in supplies...~$80 is my guess.

Final cost, just over $700.

I haven't finished installing the kappa perfects, but for a good week or so I had the sub and the rear 6002si's playing, and it sounded pretty damn good in my opinion.

$800 for the system. I started out just wanting to upgrade the speakers now I'm sure I'm going for the amp as well. I've heard good things about Infinity kappa speakers. I'm not going to do the install so that has to be figured in as well.
The guy at Hawk Electronics is recommending Cadence speakers and amp. they sound good has anyone had any experiance with them?
I'm also likely going to dynomat the speaker panels. I've heard this makes a big difference.

Re: aftermarket amp.- speaker question

I'm not a big bose fan, but is does sound pretty darn good. I would just add an amp, sub and LPL. With a sub you will be able to turn the bass down on the door speakers so that they will keep up with the sub. Pheonix Gold class D mono amp, kicker solo-baric sub (needs very little box space and is extremely loud with PG amp and PG LPL. The LPL will allow you to control the sub bass from inside the car since factroy radio does not supply one. You can get all those real cheap on Ebay and I think it would be Kick A**/ If you do still want to upgrade speaker Infinity's are pretty good, but if you want really good check out MB Quart.. You will however if you decide on new door speakers need a second amp, and then a cap. If I was going to add one thing I would add a sub and amp, but not the door speakers, why even bother
