hey, not to threadjack but i had a quick question to OP. when you flip the screen down to put in a SD or CD/DVD, do you have a problem with it hitting the shifter? im looking into getting the z110 but im not sure how well this will work...
and ps, i would also go with an amp. im upgrading speakers so will probably be selling my amp soon, but it sounds very clear right now, all the way up to the top.

Let me snaps some pics really quick and I'll post them up. To quickly answer your question, no, there is no clearance problems with the shifter.
Amp is a must. I talked with a knowledgeable installer who has done plenty of Infiniti's and he basically said what everyone says--The Bose sucks and because of the design of the Bose system, you definitely have to replace the amp and should ditch the 2ohm speakers.

Now that I take a closer look at it....... It is not even close to the shifter!
Overall, I am very pleased with the unit. The SD card feature is awesome; you can play music off of a USB stick, Pandora off your iPhone, Bluetooth audio off of your iPhone, and the Bluetooth phone works way better than the factory Bluetooth.
My only mild complaint so far is that the NAV isn't perfect. I've driven down roads that would have required a left turn, but the nav didn't even recognize it as a turn because the hard turn is shown as a curve. Also, there is a left turn off of a highway that the NAV will, not for the life of it use on the route. It's as if it doesn't recognize that there is actually a left turn lane there. Overall the Nav issues are very mild.
Pics!!
The shifter is in 3rd gear

Hm well I have a 5at, and there's noo way I have that much room haha
I'm gonna see if I can find a measurment from the face out, and hope it will fit.
I have the f90bt now, so I'm well aware of the navi shortcommings... I have stock navi also so its ok tho haha
One question- I don't have an ipod/iphone, and mainly use USB/SD for music. What is the startup time with those inputs?

The startup time on the SD card is very fast.... practically instant. You can play SD music just as fast as you can get the FM radio on. The ipod is a little slower because it syncs the library when you plug it in. The SD card reader will support up to 16gb cards and you can sort your music in folders and easily navigate the folders through the interface. I picked up a couple 4gb cards so that I can rotate them out. It's plenty for me.
Back to the shifter... I wouldn't think that the 5AT shifter would be all that different in size, but what do I know.
And thanks, yes, apparently I have orange stitching on my steering wheel.... (shrugs) I guess it came with the premium package??

the only time I had an issue was when I went to upload a new splash screen from an SD card while parked in the garage and I had to put it in Neutral to open the face...no biggy!!
G35 Pilot. Good lookin install! Let me knwo what you went with on the AMP. I am in the process of doing the same thing to mine. I was unaware of the amp issue. I'll just replace it when I do the rest.
Anyone have suggestions on speakers?

Thanks! I have actually just stuck with the factory amp and speakers for now. I just haven't felt the desire to put forth the cash and time to upgrade the amp and speakers yet. I definitely will though. There are plenty of good amps out there on the market and depending on who you talk to, you'll get various suggestions. A good friend of mine used to be a an installer and he digs the Alpine or JL amps. I personally have no preference and would be happy with either of those. I haven't really looked into it too much yet. The sound with the Bose amp and speakers isn't great at a high level, but it's tolerable.

ok so i got the z110 and got it in. it does hit the shifter, but i have a momo that i shortened and its not bad. i ended up with a kenwood amp to power speakers, and it sounds amazing(except for some engine noise... have to diagnose that one)
Which amp did you go with? Did you leave the factory speakers, and if so is that amp rated for 2ohms?
P.S. The navigation really disappointed me this weekend. Twice in one day the destination I programmed was completely off. I mean like I programmed Jewell St and it took me to 2nd and some other **** 6 miles away from the actual destination. Twice on two different trips! wtf Pioneer. So now I have to confirm the destination using my google maps on the iphone. bullsh!t.
I got my HU replaced by the same Pioneer Z110BT system and I am having the same exact problem. It sounds great aound 15-25 but after 25 it sounds horrible. I have been checking online to see what to do and I figured there is a company called PAC which makes head unit replacement kits for Nissan and Infinity Bose systems. Part# is ROEM-NIS2, I thought it may be helpful if you did not go with a different route yet.
Changing the amp may be an option that I was thinking about as well but I think there is a big chance to blow your factory Bose speakers with a nice 5 channel 1000W amp. If you are going to replace the amp, I would say replace the whole system with better 4ohm speakers and a better sub. I hate spending another 1K on a sound system because I though I would be done when I replaced the HU but it may be a good opportunity to get rid off the Bose system that everybody hates...
