Thank you all for valuable info! I decided to give it a try with ROEM-NIS2 and I could not be happier. There is no distortion anymore on high levels, it almost worked like an amp and my Bose sub started to shake the entire car after installing this device. Before my sub was barely working and all I heard was distortion on high levels, it really worked!!! Got it for about $40 from Amazon and well worth it.

I am still planning to replace the entire system with new speakers and amp but at least that project can wait a little now. Time to go with a few more performance upgrades instead...

Damn glad it worked out well, odd that they don't list it as compatible with our cars.

zeyn83, did you keep the 70-7550 harness, or did you swap out to the one made for Bose when you installed the ROEM-NIS2.

Posting up pictures of the install would probably be helpful as well, since there's a lot of people picking up used G35s and hitting up the a/v forum as of late.

ROEM-NIS2 installation

Yeah, me too... A $40 device saved me spending 1K for now lol. I contacted to PAC tech support and they told me that it should work better than a regular harness on any G35 or 350Z with Bose factory system no matter what year the car is. So all it does is as we discussed before it adjusts a good balance between the new HU and Bose amp and fix distortion...

I did not keep the Metra harness, all I have is the ROEM-NIS2 between the HU and Amp now and no reason to keep the Metra harness. I am posting a few pictures, it may be helpful for those planning to install this awesome device. Thank you all once again! I will keep you posted if I replace anything else on my system.

Thanks for the quick write-up.

This thread needs a sticky now!

I am sorry I am so late to this thread, but I can definately be of help.

Now if your an audiophile, just ignore my post here.

Otherwise.... you DO NOT need a new amp you DO NOT need new speakers....
I have a z110BT installed my 03 and it sounds fine. If anything I'ld add a sub.

I'm no moron, I install ME for a living, but then again after seeing a million systems and the point at which quality per dollar goes down, my taste is more just good sounding rather than thumping bass or component systems. I like a factory look thats loud and decent sound.

All I used was a standard 10 dollar harness from CarToys thats compatible with Infiniti amps. I added no sound processors or amps or speakers. I will probably add a 10" sub soon, but for now the stock sounds ok.

First off, check all those soldered joints and make sure that there is nothing grounding out or crossing wires. Jamming that thing into the dash is, as I full well know, a chore. It can cram wires together and sometimes a small problem becomes big. Second off, don't use the speaker connections on the z110 or the harness... what you need to do is use those RCA out's for the speakers. You will see two sets of red/white's behind the head unit. Get you some rca's, plug them in, clip the wires about 8" back and caaarefully seperate and strip the tiny wires inside the RCA's. Attach your new patched up rca's to the speaker leads on your harness. The RCA's are a different voltage, and using the regular speaker outs makes a slight bump when you turn the car on and off and can contribute to distortion. Be sure to use heat shrink around all your soldering.

This sounds confusing but basically all I'm saying is take the wire coming from your standard amp harness I mentioned buying that clips into your infiniti stereo harness, and from those leads to the RCA audio out's on your Z110 your making a cable with RCA on one side and wire on the other.

Another suggestion which embarassingly worked for me once: check your solder. make sure it's electrical solder. As dumb as this sounds, if you've got it apart, just redo all the speaker joints by twisting the wire together and capping it. If this solves your distortion the soldering is your problem.

Just PM if you need any more help. Mine sounds great, and I can also tell you how to do the NAV bypass so your bluetooth phonebook, address input on navigation, and ipod video and DVD's work while your driving. It's simple, but also easy to mess up.

^ You just built a Metra 70-7551 wiring harness out of a Metra 70-7550 wiring harness. They cost they same.

Some of the factory Bose amps have worked with aftermarket HUs just fine, but typically, the output from the RCAs isn't enough for the Bose amp to send the signal further forward.

Soooo I started this thread over 2 years ago and have been living with mediocre sound ever since I installed the Pioneer AVIC-Z10bt. I'd just like to report that I finally installed the ROEM-NIS2, as recommended from this very thread, and now it sounds pretty damm awesome again. Holy crap why did I not do that a long time ago!!

Anyways, for anyone else out there, if you don't want to replace the Bose amp and speakers for whatever your reasons are, installing the ROEM-NIS2 will make your aftermarket deck sound just as good as stock, if not a little better.
