I know that amp is really nice. I was also looking for Kicker ZX700.5. I heard nothing but good things about it...

Did you connect the HU to the car's antenna directly or your HU comes with its own antenna that you are supposed to install somewhere on the front and wire from there?

First time i've checked out the ROEM-NIS2. I think I'll have to recommend it with Bose conversions.

It is the AMP for sure. I had the exact same problem. The Bose HU and Amp use Balanced Differential Inputs/Outputs. When matched with a unbalanced signal (such as your New HU) it distorts horribly. I used a MTX Req5 to integrate the two, you can pick one up for about a hundo or so on ebay/amazon or whatever.

I checked MTX Req5 but it looks like it is what you need when you are adding amps to a factory system. Did you use it with factory Bose amp? If so did you get good results? I am really confused as there are so many route to go with, amp replacement (if so which one), MTX Req5, ROEM-NIS2 etc etc. It is a pain to change the HU only without touching anything else and end up with messed up sound quality lol.

I went to 2 different shop and they are telling me I need to replace all speakers, sub, amp and everything. What if I don't have another 2K to spend on this project lol?

It's best to replace everything, but headunit and amp will be distortion and noise-free and properly loud.

I would love to replace everything but not for now. What is the best amp to go with thinking that I will be using it with Bose sub&speakers for a while and I will be replacing them all later? I don't like to get an amp which will blow my Bose system up or an amp that I will not be able to use with better speakers in the future. Any suggestions? Thank you all!!

Req5

No I kept the Bose HU and ditched the Bose amp, but it is the same matter. Both the HU and Amp both use a Differential Balanced inputs and outputs (out from the HU in to the Amp). So when you put an Unbalanced piece of equipment (like the new HU) you will have an issue with the signal, manifesting itself in painful sounding static.

This took me a while to figure out... The REQ5 is not the only piece of equipment that will do it, but it is a pretty good one and not too pricey. They also have a REQ (3 channel version) cheaper.

I found a good price on a REQ5 from HookedOnTronics at Amazon.com

Amazon Amazon

The good thing about buying from Amazon is they have an A to Z guarantee, meaning you can return it if it does not work out for you.

For $88 bucks it is worth a try.

Good luck. If you do decide to buy it, you can PM me, it is a little confusing to install... But once you understand it, it is not really that bad.

Good luck.

here is the link.

One last thing

If the equipment (HU, Amp, whatever) does not say Differential Balanced in it, it is most likely Unbalanced. If they are using the Diff Bal signals, then they boast on it, cause it is better technology. It is used in Pro Audio (like musician stuff) to cancel out noise, and in car audio to eliminate alternator whine, and all other types of skulduggery noises to be had in the harsh auto environment.

Hope that helps.

What amp to get?

Well, if you have a coupe, a 6-channel amp is the easiest, and a 5-channel if you're in the sedan, but for future compatibility and sound quality, you're better off buying a 4-channel and a separate 2-channel amp regardless of sedan or coupe.

Wrathernaut, that sure is getting to be a bunch of amps....

Counting the sub amp (if and when), that would be 3... wow. Have to put a relay in to turn them all on...

You know, I have been listening to that 6 channel new JL XD600/6 channel amp I just put in, it sure sounds good for Class D, JL has done a really good job.

If you have a sub, why would you want the weak factory deck sub in there anyway? They'd probably just get thrown around by the SPL of the sub(s) in the trunk, doing nothing but generating noise. Kinda like a passive emitter, but since they're too far away and not sealed with the sub like a passive emitter usually is, they end up reproducing sound that isn't anywhere near what you'd want.

Two amps is all you'd need.

The JL XD600/6 probably is fine with the factory Bose, but if you get better speakers, you'll probably hear the distortion a bit more.

Connected the HU directly to the car's antenna....I can barely pull a signal for fm or am stations. Should I have done something different? I have z3 unit so you know. Anyone else with a pioneer in dash nav having reception issues?

None of the Pioneer units I've installed have reception issues.

What antenna adapter did you use?

I use this one:
Metra 40-NI10 Metra 40-NI10

^ Well, that could be the problem.

Go down to your local car audio shop and get the nissan diversity antenna adapter, not the nissan NON-diversity adapter. $15 and the problem's solved.
