Does metallic window tint affect radio reception?

I'm ready to tint my window and most folks recommend the metallic type tint rather than the dye-based tint since they look so much better. I'm concerned that the metallic tint may interfere with radio reception through the antenna strips on the rear window of my coupe. Anyone have any complaints after installing metallic window tint?

Can anyone point me to some online pics of metallic window tinting? I've got the Brilliant Silver and want to get some tint with a metallic/mirrored look to match the paint - I just can't find any decent pics online...

NO, metallic tint does not affect reception on this car. I listed to the radio all the time. No noticeable difference. Personally, i thought the radio reception sucked on this car to begin with, so I was really concerned when I got mine tinted.

Please do not get mirror tints on a G. Here's mine.

35% metallic tint all the way around except windshield. Willow interior. Pictures were taken just before sunset. Sorry!

Thanks for the feedback.

afr0puff, you're car looks great. I originally wanted CB/Willow but found a great deal on Ebay for 6MT coupe DP/Graphite and it's been awesome!

Front side tinting is illegal in CA, but lots of cars have it here in the SF area. I had one place say they won't tint fronts darker than 50%...what do they think, they're only doing something less illegal than a darker tint. I'll call around to find someone who'll put the same tint all the way around.

Whoa! You bought a car off ebay? How was that?

Tinting the front side here in NJ is illegal no matter how light it is. But you will see a million cars here tinted. I originally wanted to go with 50% to avoid cop trouble, but it was too light once I saw it. 35% is perfect. Plenty dark enough without looking ghetto. Sometimes I still think its too light and sometimes I think it's too dark. Perfect!

I thought for sure metalic tint played with lasar and radar detection.

Re: Does metallic window tint affect radio recepti

Unfortunately, I've experienced a reduction in the quality of my AM reception. It's made it a little more difficult to listen to my Friday evening traffic reports.

If you could live with this little quirk, get the metallic tint, it certainly is better than the regular dyed tint.

Re: Ebay car purchase

Here's the thread about my G purchase on Ebay.

https://g35driver.com/forums/showfla...sed&sb=5&part=

I do listen to AM for A's and Raiders games, as well the traffic. All those seem to be on really strong signals, so I hope I don't too much of a dropoff after I get the tint. I'm going to finalize my CA registration first prior to the tint, so I don't get any hassles at the DMV.

Pestilence,
That's a pretty awesome G sedan on your website! I have a few questions and comments on your ride.
1. Looks like you got the sport package on your sedan, but after the Eibach springs and wheel/tire upgrade, didn't you just take the sports package out of your car? But what you put in is much sportier!
2. I have Eibach springs/dampers with OZ wheels and Bridgestone Potenza RO-3 tires on my '97 MB E320. The handling I have is great, so I can imagine that it must be amazing on your G.
3. How much does a dyno run cost?
4. How much were the LED clear corners? Are the LEDs in orange, so it lights up orange?

Marcel. it does affect it.
V1 becomes useless... except the windshield... which defeats the purpose of the 360 degree detection =(
