dension ice link
dension ice link
i wanna install the dension ice link for my ipod, but i talked to their support dude and the product is not available for the g35 because there is no auxilary input because of the in dash changer (infiniti didnt think anyone would want to install another changer). any ideas on how i can add an aux. input so i can install this thing? please help i want one badddddd!
Re: dension ice link
That's wrong. The G35 Coupe radio definitely supports an external CD changer in addition to the built in one. The Phatbox emulates a CD changer and they work together perfectly fine. You'd use the N-BUS port (which is also used for the SAT prewiring). You can also plug in a 6 disc Nissan changer into the SAT prewiring and have that work also.
Last I heard with the Dension, they had difficutly obtaining the ALNS1 adapter. Dension doesn't support Nissan, they actually re-sell you a Nissan to Alpine CD changer adapter, and then their product works as an Alpine changer.

Re: dension ice link
im an amateur when it comes to this kind of stuff... what do you recommend i do? are you saying there is an input that could work for this product through the SAT. sorry about my imcompetence... please explain.
Re: dension ice link
Yes. If you unplug the SAT prewire from the back of the radio, you would be able to connect the Nissan iceLINK in it's place. Our radios support either a CD changer or a SAT tuner on that plug. An external changer will work alongside the built in one, so should the icelink.
If you just want an AUX input, PAC audio sells those. They simulate a SAT tuner.

Re: dension ice link
Hey guys. I am a dealer for PAC Audio and Dension alike. I can order any products I wish from either supplier...
As already mentioned in a past post, I have confirmed that there is no way to integrate the IceLink unit in Nissan or Infiniti vehicles. They had a (Nissan) IceLink some time ago, but it was very problematic, and never really got out of the testing phase. They decided to forego the Nissan project, and not put anymore time and money in to it. So, it is confirmed that there is no IceLink for us... Otherwise, I have heard alot of good things from BMW users and others as well.... its a shame.
A popular combo right now is the use of the PAC AAI-NIS Aux input and the SWI-X unit. It will bring audio from an iPod though the headunit's SAT button and allow the steering wheel controls to functions with the basic commands of a IR compatible iPod... I have sold MANY in the last 20 days or so...
And yes, the AUX input from PAC does emulate a SAT tuner... It lets you have up to 2 aux audio sources...

A friend of mine has the Toyota version. It's a Toyota to Sony adapter along with Dension's proprietary hardware. He was rather disappointed with it. Yes, it's better than just an aux input, but you can't change playlists, you can only skip tracks. It also doesn't consistently start and stop the iPOD when he gets in and out of the car.
He's just going to wait for Alpine's solution and replace his head unit.
