What's your primary purpose for the DD?

If it's iPod, I believe Pioneer headunits are the best for controlling one.
If it's navigation, some Kenwood units have Garmin software, which some people prefer.
Sound quality? Bluetooth integration?

If you're running a Bose headunit, I'd recommend getting a little bit cheaper headunit and replacing the amp, as the end result would be preferable.

Im looking for something as well, I have had bad luck with Pioneers but thats just me, Not to say they are bad.

I like that Pioneers let you color match the illumation ( WHY DOESNT ALL BRANDS DO THIS? ) So annoying a amber illumination car with a radio glowing blue?

With that being said im a huge Alpine fan and think I will be going with an Alpine
IVA-W505 http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/iva-w505/default

But the blue lights are a little annoying. I am almost debating pioneer to atleast look uniform.

The Alpine has a nice higher resolution screen and can be had on ebay for around $650

If you're happy with your navi, the Pioneer 4100 is a popular option for DVD.
Going with the alpine will let you add navigation to it later if you so desire.

I'll put the eBay warning out there - if you want your warranty, you have to buy it from an authorized retailer:
ABT, BEST BUY, CRUTCHFIELD, MADDJACKS, ONE CALL, NEW EGG,
AL & ED'S, CAR TOYS, SIXTH AVENUE ELECTRONICS, PACIFIC STEREO, THE SPECIALISTS
(sorry about the caps, it's how it was on Alpine's site.)
