PS2 power mod

anyone know how to remove the built in power converter so that I can connect my PS2 to my car's power source without the use of an inverter?

Thanks

Nope but it's pretty easy to spend $30 on an invertor.

Re: PS2 power mod

If you're talking about bypassing the PS2's internal power supply, it won't work. You need at least 2 different DC voltages, and you need them cleaner and more stable than you'll get from a car power system.

Surely you can spend a few more bucks on your $30,000+ car!

Re: PS2 power mod

will i be able to watch movies while the car is in motion? i was reading in a few places that i would have to ground the hand brake or something. not too sure if that is true. i don't care about programming the nav while driving. i'm simply refering to watching dvds while the car is in motion.

Re: PS2 power mod

The navigation can't play dvd's. If, IF, you get the avelectronics (or whatever it's called??) system, or something similar, you can have the output of your ps2 displayed on the navigation screen.

If you do that, and play dvd's through the ps2, the status of the handbrake won't matter one bit.

Re: PS2 power mod

I don't know about the other systems that have been going around lately but with the avelectronic unit there is a handbrake wire that when properly installed will only allow the screen to play movies when the handbrake is applied. Now if you accidently grounded that wire to the chasis it might (cough: will) allow you to display other video sources on your nav screen while the car is in motion.

Re: PS2 power mod

Actually, the ps2 doesn't have any problem using the battery dc voltage. As far as removing the dc/ac inverter ... acna't help you there.
