Add amp and keep factory nav voice?

If I were to add an amp and change my speakers, but keep the stock headunit and stock nav, would I lose my nav voice? I think I would. If I'm correct, how would I go about installing speakers and an amp while keeping the Stock HU, and not lose my nav voice guidance?

Thanks,
Frank

You will not lose the navi voice if you add amps and speakers.

You sould not lose the nav voice by changing the amp. The voice signal comes from the nav unit into the stock hu which goes into the amp, factory or aftermarket.

Do you hear me?

I've done what you plan on doing and I still have my voice prompts. The NAV lady is just louder now (because I tapped my LOC into my front signal).

But has anyonen figured out how to retain the Nav voice when changing out the HU? I know that you'd have to have a dedicated amp and speaker but which wire should be tapped in front?

Yes, it will work just fine. Just be sure to tap into the FRONT head unit output. The REAR head unit output does not have NAV voice. If you have a four channel LOC you can get an interersting effect by using the rear for the subwoofer. It's advantageous anyway since it lets you use fader to control the sub level. But what will happen is the music will cut off, but the sub will keep thumping while the nav speaks. It's kind of a neat effect.
