Compass not accurate
Compass not accurate
My G35 sedan has had the compass off by about 1/8 to the right (west) ever since day one. I tried the owner's manula calibration and the comapss would not respond ata ll like the owner's manual says. I took the car in and had them adjust it. My loaner G was off the same way. I got my car back and it seems perfect. I couldn't get a straight answer as to what they did.
Has anyone noticed their compass is off and corrected the calibration on their own?

Re: Compass not accurate
The trick is to hold the button in as you turn on the ignition switch. If you have the car on when you try to reset the zones as the manual suggests, you'll clear the display after about 10 sec as you no doubt discovered.
Re: Compass not accurate
To reset the compass, hold the buttons down like the manual says. The display will go to - - -.
Then drive around in circles in a parking lot going both directions. Figure eights work to.
Here's a video of Markham123 resetting his.

The compass will reset after about 3 minutes.
I had to do the same thing.
