I'll have to agree here.

If you're not going to remove it from your car, you can just get the factory iPod integration and stuff the thing with the spare tire in the trunk.

Nobody will have to know it's there, they'll just see that you can control a ****ton of music through the factory headunit with the steering wheel controls.

the only MAJOR downside for me about the iPod is that it does not have any expandable memory.

What is this factory integration thing you speak off?

I don't want that stupid touch thing with all them apps and WiFi and video and shiznet.

Just more things to go wrong that I'll never use anyway. No reason for me to pay for stuff I will never use.

I was gonna settle down for a simpler iPod device, but they are very limited on a memory.

How difficult is it to integrate it into your stereo?

how easy is it to add and remove data from it?

Do you constantly have to take it out of the trunk or go in there with a laptop to load something on it?
Its a HD in cartridge form. To add music or make changes you take out the cartridge drop it in the cradle connected to your computer and change it with the itunes style software. When you go back to your car you plug the cartridge back in. I'm using ipod now in the g37 and it seems exactly the same as that to change.

BTW do you have any idea why this product is discontinued?
Yes, i have a theory. It was always a fringe system and I think that once it started to become more popular other giants in the industry said "oh my god if that technology gets out we will be in deep$hit" so kenwood bought them out, put some of the technology into their music keg thing and buried the rest. I mean they can't have a product that stops people from buying single and double din headunits floating around...that would be very bad for business. [/end conspiracy theory]

iPod classic 120gb dude, that'll hold like 20,000 songs depending on bitrate, and you never have to see it.

the ipod classic now holds 160 gb. for storing music nothing else even comes close.
the factory integration is about a two hour install. all the hardware sets in your trunk and your ipod will be in your console. you will get to use all your steering wheel controls.
and you can unplug your ipod anytime your want for the gym or to update. anything else is second rate. $190 is kind of pricey. but you get what you pay for.

You can always just do a wired FM modulator to the antenna line. Like $50 including the adapters. No control via steering wheel though.

From: LB NY, Currently Socorro, NM. HELP ME!!!
i have an archos 5, and love the thing. i can plug it in and send the video out to my stock navi screen, and the touch screen becomes like a trackpad to move a mouse. or hook the little remote up and have the controls on a wire. im thinking about trying to make the remote work with my headuint (z110bt), but thats a work in progress...
i have the 250 gig model, and it holds all my music no problem

I will agree with Wrathernaut. I used to hate Ipods with a passion but saw the intergration and aftermarket support. I too bought a 120g ipod classic. I load my music, put it in my car and then forget its there until I want to add more music. I don't workout with it, jog with it nor buy accessories for it. It is just a massive cd changer in my car. The other thing about using an ipod is that there is so much support for it that the ipod intergration module works with it, then if you want to go double din, that will pretty much work with it from any company.

Because it's:
A) More expensive and holds less than an iPod.
B) 100x more complicated to install than "Plug iPod into cable running from back of headunit".
C) Doesn't have the marketing muscle of Apple behind it.
D) Any audio quality gains of are nullified the minute the car is in motion.
E) A lot of people actually do take their iPod around with them and enjoy the convenience of having their music continue from their headphones to their car by just plugging it in when they get there.
F) There's a lot of people that wouldn't understand how to transfer their existing music library to it, since iTunes can't load it. (I don't use iTunes at all wtih my iPod)
G) It's 60x bigger than an iPod.
H) Not easily dockable in the home.
I) It doesn't fit nicely in the center console or glovebox.
J) It's harder to search through than most iPod interfaces in headunits.
K) Flagship headunits from both Pioneer and Kenwood can't use voice-recognition to select the music on it.
