Help me find a good MP3 playback device.............please

Hello audio gurus.

got a request for all of yas.

I need a good MP3 playback device. Please don't suggest and iPOD I hate that thing for no particular reason and will not touch it with a 6ft pole.
Never laid my hand on one and never will.

So I'm looking for something I can integrate into my Coupes Bose stereo and with a decent amount of storage and good playback capabilities.

No particular need for Video play back or any kinds of WiFi capabilities bull chit and all that nonsense crap. Just something that works good with music files.

If you feel the need of suggesting something that does not quite fits my description, go ahead and suggest it anyways. Maybe it'll turn out to be something that I will not be able to resist.

Thanks in advance.

right now I'm looking at SanDisk Sansa e260

It's very simple device and it has a MicroSD slot for more storage.

I always liked the sound quality of the Creative MP3 players. I used to have a Creative Zen Micro years ago and loved it.

Are you looking for little more than a jukebox on shuffle sitting in the cup holder, or something to be using elsewhere?

I'm an iPod hater too, but I picked one a no-frills classic (120gb) just so that I had something that would interface with all the aftermarket headunits and hold 100% of my music in very high bitrate MP3.

The one I had and loved and I'd be seen in public with, was the Rio Karma, nearly impossible to find now though. Played MP3, OGG, FLAC, gapless play (years before iPod finally supported gapless) 20Gb storage and smaller than a pack of cigarettes.

I like that my Pioneer works seamlessly with the iPod, but that thing does little more than get hidden away in the dash so I don't have to see that I bought one.

I also have a Toshiba Gigabeat 40gb that's running the Rockbox firmware, which lets me play damn near every single format known to audio. Great little player, but doesn't interface with anything but headphones.

I bought this SanDisk unit quite a while ago to use at the gym. I loaded music on it but apparently I had one corrupt song that the SanDisk could not play but it would not tell me which song it was. The player froze and crashed over and over and I had to keep exchanging it for a new one. Finally, I got frustrated, broke down and bought an iPod nano. I have had it for several years and have not had one problem. I know you don't like the iPods, but there is a reason they are so popular. They really are the best MP3 players on the market.....just my $0.02

Would love to find something bigger than 30G in flash rather than HD.

you should give this some serious consideration... It is hands down the very best dedicated car mp3 playback system I have ever used. Ipod hookup is not even in the ballpark of this:

how easy is it to add and remove data from it?

Do you constantly have to take it out of the trunk or go in there with a laptop to load something on it?

BTW do you have any idea why this product is discontinued?

I have read about these problems with this particular MP3 device. But people saying that once they switch to Rockbox firmware it all goes away.

Do you still have it?

I don't still have it....the last time I exchanged it, I got an ipod nano....I really liked the fact that is had expandable memory, video, and a radio....none of which were things the nano could do at the time.
