Ho...................ly.................****...... ........... that audioque SDC 10" is ridiculous! LOLLL wow that honestly was a little more than what i expected but for that price im thinking about going with that, and YES that obviously hits MUCH harder then 10" Type R's.... im actually hoping it doesen't break my car apart, damn great advice bro. I think just a 10" SDC might do it for me with a Alpine 500 amp with a zenclosure box.. hows that sound?

Yeah I had a TC-5200, LMS-4000, TC-3000, Epic 10's, TC2+, TC9, and a crap load of other TC made subs. As for SoundSplinter, yeah, what you said is what the case is.

The frankenmoofer is just what i named it because I don't know what it was. I just know it was an underhung driver made by TC Sounds with an ugly barf green motor.

Oh man, the Brahma is a beast, I loved it. I had a 12 but the damn tinsel lead snapped. I love the IDMAX's...one of my favorite drivers. I wanna pick up a pair of IDW-18's but due to the rarity, 900 bucks for a pair of drivers is something I can't justify spending at the moment. If it were 3 or 4 years ago, I'd be all over it.

...bear in mind I was actually making fun of that other guy's "location", not your RF amp. My pair of MAXes is only powered by a (pre-Directed, thank god) Orion 1200w rms amp.

At the same time lol given your kind of money I'm sure you have unleashed something else on that 9500 series, must have been quite the insane SPL experience.

You know what, 'ugly barf green' motor rings a bell... weren't they just called TC OEM10/OEM12's?
_____________

OP, the only issue is see with your plan is that a zenclosure box isn't a ported one - which is what an SDC series sub calls for... not gonna get into T/S parameters, I'd lose my mind trying to get back to it (actually never went ported, just speaking from what I learned on CAF '05-08).

What kind of money would you be spending on the Alpine M500? Any chance you'd be willing to go with something else?

SDC subs are DVC 4 ohm - wire the coils in parallel for a final load of 2 ohm, and get a high quality Cadence ZRS series amp to match it. Combo should be unbelievably reliable, loud and somewhat clean for a street/rap aimed subbass setup.

Jason @ Powermaxelectronics actually owns an all-Cadence car, TheSpaceMonkey (CAF) & him are sponsored by Cadence and are the two go-to guys for Cadence amps.

$229. 800w rms @ 2 ohm, rated @ 13.8 real driving V. In Cadence we trust.

When I saw your original choices I thought of the RE SE 10 or 12"

I used to be a bass head when I was younger and I like a loud deep bass.

I was REALLY impressed with my Re SE 10" in a 1 cube ported box.

Loudest ive ran, no. But it sounds really great and take 1000rms daily

RE makes awesome SPL oriented subs. '03-04 XXXs are legends...

Too bad they jacked up their prices after scaling their operations/sales up, back in '06 when the new line-up came out.

Depending on the enclosure, you could say SDCs & SEs are in the same class in terms of output. SE will have the edge in SQ, but I don't think the OP would notice it anyway (not with that kind of music). Look at the prices, I'm sure there's a ~$100 diff between the two drivers.

HDC vs SX would be a sweet comparo.

wouldn't the RE SX be better then the SE? And if so, since im going to be hitting that price range, would the JL 10w6 compare to the RE SX?

and placing the HDC3 into that comparison... so i guess JL 10w6/HDC3 10"/RE SX 10" would be the top 3 choices.. I love bass but at the same time i would like to have SQ, of course more bass than SQ but still i need some good SQ... and JL 10w7 and the RE XXX look like very nice subs but the price is too much for me... i think the 3 choices im at right now with the price range is PERFECT.

Yes to the 1st question.

To the 2nd... well, they are very, very, very, very, very (did I say very?) different drivers.

Compare in terms of what exactly? A ported SX will be stupid loud while sounding decent, and a sealed W6v2 will have you **** your pants on Hell Freezes Over by Eagles.

Please have a look at this 'guidance' thread...

Then by what you just said ("of course more bass than SQ but still i need some good SQ"), go with the SX if you can power it properly. 1200w rms at a min, 1500w rms on tap recommended. Be wise adjusting your gains.

There are so many options available to you, my top preferences would be IDMAX and FI audio. But honestly if this is your first sub, and/or you are not an audiophile, you will really not be disappointed as long as you pick a decent brand. I wouldn't really worry about getting the "best" sub your first time because you may not even know what kind of sub you really prefer (for most people the just pure thump gets tiring after awhile).

^^great advice on the first sub thing.

Totally missed Fi in the process... a ported BL would definitely be in his price range.

However, I'm not a fan of ported MAXes just because that's not what they were -primarily- intended to do. 1.3-1.5 cube net is paradise for a sealed MAX.

I was really leaning towards the RE SX 10" but that means i would have to get a ported box for it and i really don't want a big ol box sitting in the middle of my trunk so i called a guy in my area who does custom work and he said for a custom ported box it would be 300 so i said **** that.. unless anyone here can give me a tip on where to get a custom ported box for g35 coupe bc i've been searching all over online and can't find ****.
