CD Player pissin me off

I have an 04g35 coupe with the stock cd player. My problem is when i change cd's it doesnt work all the time, it just skips over the cd and goes to the next one from the 6cd player. Pretend im listening to cd #1, and i hit #2, it wont go to #2 all the time, it wont even read the cd, and will go on to the next time, and sometimes i noticed when i turn teh car off i hear the cd player makin its noises, so i turn the car back and its sayin disk check, and then it goes away, whats the deal with these cd players? does it need to be cleaned or something?

Introducing the factory CD changer. It's a short-lived animal.

Time to decide if you want to try to repair it ($100-200 if it can be fixed and some wait) pay a bit now ($200-400) for a used one from The Marketplace that'll last a little bit longer (maybe not much since it'll be the same age or older than yours), a bit more ($600+) to have the dealer install a refurbished one that might last as long as that one if you're lucky, or spend $800+ on a JDM DD kit and a far super aftermarket unit (Pioneer AVH4200 is quite popular) that'll be all new and have tons more features.

I highly recommend doing the double din install with something superior to the factory unit.

The black grille is a 100% improvement on the Serengeti Sand, and it looks fine on the Lakeshore Slate, like 10% improvement. I'd definitely take it off and have a pro paint it. My custom work looks good, but the effort wasn't worth it.

My '05s changer is doing exactly what you described, and once I get back in the states and see my car again, I'm doing the DD conversion. I've already got the DD trim and everything, just waiting to see what headunit is the best to get in about 9 months.
